I usually get stoked over Christmas and have the tree up and carols playing but this year, due to a lot of life changes, I just can't get into it one iota....sorry to those of you who are already sleeping under the tree.

Anyone else have the Christmas blahs?.............................Keithicon_sad.gif

Well, I was really looking forward chrismas and New Years Eve.

Each year since I can remember, my whole family (70+ people) would reunite and celebrate at my uncle's and aunt's place. It would be a huge party with fun and love for everyone.

Except this year... Last night, my uncle had an infarction and got to the hospital. He's in a stable state now, but he's very weak, so the party got cancelled, obviously. I'm really saddened by this. I really hope he gets better, and I still don't know what I'll be doing for New Years Eve...

So yeah, I guess I'll have a blue, blue blue blue chrismast. icon_confused.gif

I don't have the Blahs, but I also don't get overly excited...haven't put a tree up in years.
The closest thing to a celebration I'll have is buying a few gifts for some close friends and family.

i see each and every step as a chore, but i have a great time on Xmas day.

and NO xmas music ( or what people call xmas music, which usually is nothing but american schmalz ) is ever heard in my house.
Well, maybe Bach Christmas Oratorio if i'm in the mood.

The older I get, the more it's just another day, though I don't get the blahs.
I am getting together with a bunch of long time friends for a nice Christmas dinner.
I will be the mashed potatoes.

    Disasterpiece,

I think that you shouldn't have canceled the holiday celebration. You could have still had it at your aunt's house, or you could have moved it to another family member's house.

Throughout the years, there will always be family members (of every age) who will be sick or hospitalized. And, eventually, we all pass away. But, it's important for each generation to continue the joyous traditions.

    Hugs.

Yeah, I don't really care any more. I just go visit family/friends. Then I come home early and take care of stuff around the house. Then I'll go for a run or something.

Oh, I agree whole heartedly, Tony. but i think the spirit went to Florida this year. I don't concentrate on the commercial side of Christmas. to me it is about the spirits of peace and love, and the quiet joy of family and friends, but......nothing......my best girl and my son are gonna be here, maybe things will start to change.........thanks for the pump Tony................Keithicon_cool.gif

Keith, I'm with you there and a few weeks ago I even started a thread similar to this one. I was feeling down because I don't have anyone around (no family at all--anywhere---they have decided I wasn't "wealthy" enough to celebrate with them and I have been "disowned.").

I don't have a special guy out there to share the holidays with as I have never had a long-term boyfriend or anyone of that sort.

So, the holidays have no meaning, really. It does dredge up bad memories when I was a child when my father would beat me on the head telling me "that's your Christmas present, you bastard." While waiting for the pain to subside in my skull, I was forced to watch my younger sister open gift after gift that morning, while I received none. Christmas dinner was a meal form my mom, dad and sister. I was not allowed to eat that day.

So, I understand if people feel kinda "ehhhh" about the whole thing. It's been that way for me all my life.

I think a lot of people are just down in general. In my neighborhood we're the only house with lights! O_O ..maybe it's the economy here or something.

I love Christmas, but I wish I had someone special to spend it with other than friends and family.

ahm, i dont have a blah!, but, this is going to be my second xmas alone.
haha first one last year, i was working in Panama City and my whole family was at home, 6 hours away.

this xmas, i'm in USA and my whole family and friends in Panama. And the few friends i have here one of them went back home and well, there's my roomie that his family is in Turkey.

My boyfriend is going to be here too, us alone in California. His family is across the country. So I guess this xmas is going to be different for me, being away from home.
