    Hey there, Buddy here.

I am a 7 year old AKC Registered Beagle. I am one of the beagle companions of "HndsmKansan".

Thanks for you guys who were nice enough to wish me a "Happy Birthday" last week when I turned 7.

I realized I have lots to say. I howl at Chris all the time, he listens to me to a point then tells me to "shut up".....

"Hndsm" goes to the gym all the time and does those boring cardio routines in the morning and is all concerned about being fit. What about me and what about your doggies?? Do you take time to walk and/ or excercise your animals?

Chris was fantastic when I first went to live with him in 2002. We walked around the lakes twice a day, but with the move to the new house and our fenced in backyard (and a cold..brrr winter) he only walks us occasionally. And I'm a little overweight!

I want to know... 1) Do you have dogs and 2) What do you do to be responsible.. do you walk them?

Btw, you are going to hear from me occasionally... I am going to ask you questions and see if you are really good to your dogs! icon_biggrin.gif

I'll ask and see if I can get a sign on separate from Hndsm. I don't know if they will want me though, I'm not as fit as some of the dogs may be from here....icon_rolleyes.gif

It's easier to ask forgiveness, than to ask permission ... icon_eek.gif

What are they going to do? ...not walk you enough? You already got that! ... icon_lol.gif

Well I do have some sort of odd habits. I like to lick Hndsm (or others I like) on the leg. Its kind of fun and I like the salt.

My question... Can I lick your leg, Caslon?

Ethel is a little tubby, too, Buddy. She needs a workout partner. It's common in beagles, sadly.

My dogs name is Mo (short for homo). He a some kind of mutt, but he looks mostly like a German Shepard.

We do everything together. We go swimming in the river everyday, we go to the beach a few times a month, I take him on walks through town, and we hunt for snakes and large bugs. He loves to sleep on his bolder (as seen in the picture) which is just outside my room. We get along great buy he didn't like it when I had his balls chopped off. He's my guy.

Hey Buddy. Sorry to dis your kind, but I called the cops on my beagle neighbor today. He may want to get up and continuously bark at 8am on a Sunday (well, every day), but *I* don't.

Talk to me, Buddy. What's his deal?

Well we are very territorial with our yard and we enjoy barking.. well I love to howl. Chris doesn't let me and Mia make much noise because we have great neighbors and he cares bout his relationships with his neighbors and has consideration.

I could tell you the problem if I were there and could check out this beagle dude. My thought is, you should talk to the human companions about the noise and try and work it out.....

Geez we have a road in back of our backyard and Chris is always keeping us quiet so we have no issues.... they should do the same for you!

    Buddy:

I think that you are holding yourself up to the unrealistic body standards perpetuated by the photos you see in magazines. You must remember that those beagles have a financial incentive to be thin, otherwise they would not make any money. Do not let the fact that you may need to lose a few pounds affect your self esteem. You can still be loved for who you are.

    Hey Beach,
Thanks, but can you imagine what its like to be a beagle campanion to this dude who constantly works out all the time. I might be an embarassment to him if I'm fat.. the way he is....icon_smile.gif

    Buddy,

I have a Jack Russell Terrier named Ripley. She turned 10 in November, so technically she's a senior citizen. But nobody has bothered to tell her. She's still as energetic as she's ever been. She even had a cancer scare two years ago, but we got to the tumor early and she didn't need chemo or radiation. Still, I figured she'd slow down. Nope. So, I take her for several walks. A couple of short ones in the morning before work, one long one when I get home, and perhaps one or two short ones at night. Weekends she probably gets more. And she usually likes some ball time, too. That and she loves to be petted and rubbed and scratched. She's really quite demanding (but I probably have to do less cardio at the gym thanks to her). She compensates me with affection during the day and snuggles with me at night.

The guy I'm currently dating met her and loves her (he fell asleep while petting her after our 2nd date). So he passed the test. Ripley loves everybody, so that's always easy.

    Eric

P.S. Ripley says "WOOF" to Gigman and Mo. She thinks they look as yummy as Greenies. But Ripley's closest friend is a Beagle named Holly (short for Hollywood, of course), so she's sure you'd be fun to hang with and chase creatures with. If REALLY lucky, maybe the two of you can find a Fox to chase together.

Wow, you sound like such a nice guy.. and a responsible Jack Russell owner! She (Ripley) is really lucky...

Holly sounds great... we'd have to invite Mia (my beagle companion) and Gunner (Chris' bf's beagle) along.. We'd have 4 of us...!

    Hey Buddy and Mia,

We're Palmer and Chelsea. We belong to our dad, whom we call Gregg. He has had us for 10 and 14 years, respectively. One of us is black, the other fawn. Every morning and night our dad gets up and runs us around the golf course. He makes sure we never get fat. He bathes and brushes us too - so we look rather swell! We guard his house while he is gone during the day - and we guard his bedroom door while he sleeps at night. We have it on good authority that our dad likes your dad - maybe even more than a little bit. Our dad seemed happy the other day after he talked with your dad for a couple of hours. We could tell because our dad was smiling after he got off the phone- he even gave us extra food that night. We were wondering what your dad said to our dad that made our dad so happy?

    Palmer & Chelsea (the chows).

I don't own a dog, as much as I want one of my co workers boxer puppies (his name would be murphy. He'd be loved) because i can't be sure i'd devote enough time to him, to raise him right and make sure he's a good dog.

So yeah, in my own way I'm a responsible pet owner...just a not practicing one.

Montana says "Hi, I used to love playing frisbee with Daddy and going for long walks. But I'm 13 now, and my hips can't take that kind of stress, so I get a full block's walk when the weather is ok. I still like to play fetch, but Daddy makes sure I don't make any quick moves that might hurt me."

    Disko says

"Damo (nickname for Benson) tries his best to keep me in shape. I am a crazy giant schnauzer puppy that requires tons of exercise. During the rainy times it is hard, but in the spring and summer we run or swim almost every day. I especially like swimming along side of damo, since he is fast. I swim circles around him. Usually I am still full of energy, but get hot easily. I wish I got out more than I do. Like humans, diet is very important. I eat an all natural raw diet. Favorite foods include raw chicken wings with bones and slop of mashed sweet potatoes, raw hamburger and cottage cheese. Everyday I get a raw soup bone! Some call the diet the BARF diet. http://www.barfworld.com/ I also try to get the least amount of vaccinations as legally possible. Of course rabies and kennel cough and some other one I forget. But I figure humans live for 80 years and only get vaccinated a few times. why give me shots every year, especially when they can lead to disease. All in all, I am very fit and my vet and strangers on the street often comment on how beautiful I am. They obviously have yet to see me covered in mud."

you may throw up now, but not until you see how cute in shape and naturally fed giants look...
