I was in the Apple store to buy a gift card and paid for it with my credit card. Not unusual, cashier was very expedient and I was thinking wow, very cool. He was using what looked like an iPhone with a built in scanner to activate the card. Then he used the same device with my credit card, just ran it along the back side.

Then came the kicker, he asked if I wanted a printed receipt or just have it sent to my email address. My response was "What email address?", since I hadn't given him anything but my credit card. He reads off my email address. I questioned as to where he found that. I guess my credit card is linked to my itunes so when I used it at the store it also gave him my email address.

I felt weird about this. I'm in to technology, actually work in the field but this hit a little too close to home.

This particular email account is not one that I generally give out at all and then all of a sudden it's out there in the 'main stream'. Anyone else think that's a little too much 'linking' for one company? Am I wrong for feeling a bit compromised?

Isn't that the whole point of the Apple ecosystem? Everything is integrated and seamless, right?
