I'm in Portland over the holidays and don't know much about the scene or the places to check out. I haven't been back here in a long while. Any recommendations from follow Oregonians?

CC Slaughter's in Old Town is the main club. Thursdays and Saturdays are its best days. No cover charge.

Red Cap Garage and Boxxes on Stark and 12th (?) are a close second. They're connected, although not all the time for some reason. Pretty crowded on Fridays, typically. Usually had a cover, but haven't paid one recently. Not sure.

The Silverado is the only strip club/bar that caters to gay men. Great music, but no dance floor. That's if you don't mind competing with dancers. Cover charge on most days of 3-5 bucks.

Thanks for the info, Alabama. I'll have to check out those places... perhaps meet some friends and find out how gay culture in Portland has changed since I was a teen.

I agree on CCs for gay club and for eating go to Little Big Burger. Nearly every guy that works there is gay. But are you looking for other cool places that aren't strictly gay?

    Thanks for the post response.
I'm happily exploring Oregon. It would be cool to have a bud to drink and explore with while I'm on my brief vacation.
Regarding exploring gay or "regular" Portland I think that exploring both will be pretty awesome.... though I'm afraid of looking like I'm trolling if I go by myself to the gay clubs. I went to High School in Portland, but the city has evolved so much since I last lived here.
A lot of old landmarks are no longer here and the gay community has flourished. I remember thinking that I was the only gay i the entire state.
I may go snowboarding at Mt. Hood. I assume that the rain will brig a nice layer of powder on the slopes. It should be fun to hit Timberline.

How does a sexy ass New Yorker know about Portland's gay scene? Impressive!

    Ouch. Know your role. :-(

Blow Pony is pretty neat, though. Very "Portland" as far as parties go. Way different scene than any of the gay clubs, yet full of all things queer.
