Ugh, I'm getting so tired of dealing with this. I've tried so many different things and it always seems to work but only for a short time. A few days later, oh hello old friend. Has anyone had any persistent acne problems and what did you do to get rid of it for good?

Try eating cantaloupe. It is very good for the skin. It has polyphenols that cause the endothelium of blood vessels to produce Nitric Oxide which relaxes the muscle layer of the blood vessel allowing the blood to flow more freely.

Cantaloupe is also good for the immune system.

Go wild. Eat half a cantaloupe a day and see if things start to clear up in about 3 days and are practically gone in a week.

I would like to hear your results.

Oh btw, nitric oxide is also go for muscle growth by increasing the blood flow to the muscles. NO is also good for erections...again let's the blood flow more freely into the dick.

I stopped eating red meat and dairy product - so anything that contains milk + beef - and am using products from Vichy. My skin's been getting better significantly and doesn't seem to get much worse even when I am sleeping less. You should try that =D

PS make sure to purchase the cleanser, toner and moisturizer from Vichy. They usually work the best when used together!

Cut back on processed foods, milk, and cheese.

I love milk too much to give it up, but I have super clear skin when I abstain from dairy for a few days.

I did Levulan with White light recently it helps with closing your oil producing glands and helps a lot with scarring as well. Its a bit expensive but works nice.

Every medication on the market has side effects. I took accutane years ago and have never had any problems. You take the risks with the benefits. I basically took every acne treatment available at the time from antibiotics to Retin A to specialized soaps/creams to diet alterations etc. for many, many years. Accutane was the only thing that worked for me.

It was due to a few case reports that showed that some patients on Acutane developed a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, IBD (either Chron's disease or Ulcerative Colitis). Most Dermatologist will recommend against using it if you have a family history of any of the above diseases, as the Acutane might unmask the disease earlier in your life, as they agree that this is what happened in those case reports.

I've heard that if you put a fresh, clean towel on your pillow and sleep on it, it'll work wonders. I've never tried but I did hear it works better than most acne cremes. Worth a shot.

I was using acne stuff for years, with no success. I told my doctor about this. He told me to stop using any acne stuff. I did and a week later everything cleared up. I've never looked back.

In addition to cutting out dairy products, try ditching wheat as well.

Try Roacataine (not sure of spelling). It's a damn powerful drug for hard core acne. It works icon_eek.gif

I went on a coarse of it for a little while and today - beautiful skin. Go see a dermatologist. I was lucky, my one looked like Fran Dreschner.

    TAKE ACCUTANE. PERIOD.

Do not pussy out because of the possible side effects (you have no idea how low they are). I tried tons of different medications before Accutane, and I can say that Accutane is so good I wish I had gone on it first thing. And I didn't even have cystic acne - just persistent acne.

If you really want to get rid of your acne, you'll do what works: and Accutane WORKS.

Accutane is prescription only. I've never tried it - might work great.

If you're looking for something over-the-counter, this stuff works pretty well. 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. One drawback is that it bleaches most fabrics (but I have white sheets).

Try Proactiv. I used to have horrible acne on my face and back, and I tried a million things and spent a ton of money with useless dermatologists and nasty prescription drugs. I eventually tried Proactiv, and I immediately cleared up.

    Edit: What DCguy1999 said.

    Have you tried benzoyl peroxide?

It's the active ingredient in Proactiv, but you can just buy it from your local pharmacist, and it's a whole lot cheaper than Proactiv.

    Ask your pharmacist.

My boyfriend uses it (specifically Benzac Wash). He's gone from deep cystic acne to clear skin.
