Do not make an ignorant comment like that.

I'm a Muslim and I nor my family will ever tolerate this type of behavior. I would serious start throwing trash at them for blackening my faith over such back ward behavior.

Honor Killings is done out of misguided cultural practices and NOT out of religious faith.

This isn't a story about religious belief or tradition, it is about assault & battery with intent to cause grave injury.

Thank G-d she escaped and let's hope that yearning for family doesn't drive her back (as it so often does).

We know about this because this young woman is a celebrity. Try to imagine how often this happens without our ever hearing about it.

One of the great experiences of my life was visiting Fathpur Sikri, which is commonly called "the ghost city of Akhbar". The Mughal Emperor Akhbar took a Christian wife, a Hindu wife, a Muslim wife, and a Hebrew wife. This is called either fringe benefits or leading by example depending upon your perspective.

Alas, in the intervening half millennium we have lost a bit of common sense.

And Christians experience the same bigotry. The media is what most people go by, while what they show is only the extreme and a very small percentage of the whole . After all- the medias' motivations are about selling whatever the commercials have . Americans need to bypass the media and get to know people one on one.

it's Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar the Great tried only built it so it could be a capital and also tried to establish his own religion but it never worked and both were abandoned, he however did start secularism and unification in India by marrying into Royalties of kingdoms of other faiths and securing alliances .. wow it's crazy I still know Royal Indian history like the back of my hand.

I would like to add that the Chrisitians really did not do much better.. nor did the Jews, if you read the Torah clearly

Examples? hmm catholic torture of "pagans"... protestant white lynching of "negroes".... protestant terrorism in northern ireland and london... biblical accounts of genocide and rape...

there really is no religion of peace anywhere in the world... everyone is just a feckin eedjut

I am an atheist and do not take sides in religious matters. Nevertheless, I interpreted the comment from Fearthefall differently.

I think what Fearthefall is saying is that since the Muslim faith preaches peace, why do honor killings or stoning still occur. This would seem like a contradiction.

All false belief system are dangerous, because of the conformance, hate, fear, and intolerance that is their basis.

They represent a clear and present danger to us all.

It's important that we expose folks to truth, and, that, as time moves forward, more folks will choose not to embrace those false belief systems.

False belief systems (religions, cults, superstitions) have NO PLACE in a modern society.

In places (countries / communities) where false belief systems are entrenched (60% or over) you are likely to be physically harmed if you refuse to conform to the false belief system. Those are FACTS, and why parochial government is so very dangerous.

Cause greed and manipulation of power, Politics and even Money...
Women in Islam are meant to treated as equal and there duty of men to protect the women from harm. Unfortunately many people of the Muslim faith (such as myself) aren't versed in Quran as we are meant so this were things tend to falter. There are far few truly educated versed in Quran and they usually are quiet of fear of being killed. The mad hatter Mullahs, are backed with money and with the loads of misguided followers,it is simply a matter of overpowering nnumbers.

i.e A lot of rural areas of Pakistan do not fund education for children and so the madrasah (sp) teach the kids instead. And if its Taliban funded...icon_confused.gif

Most of these "religious texts" support beating, injuring, and killing people. Followers in modern society try to stumble around it and say they are "good books", but they aren't. Just read. it's all right there in black and white. Modern civilization has tried to make religion something contrary to what the texts actually say.

It's tribal culture that places emphasis on family honour. Not religion.

I'm glad this is getting media attention. These misled cultural practices are beyond unholy, they are just pure savage. I get goosebumps reading about how some of these women are treated.

Try talking to criminals in the states who have beaten, killed or tortured and ask them about their reasoning. It is the same thinking. It is that twisted interpretation of what ever religious text they have read or choose to believe in.
I am Catholic and if you study the history of the Catholic church... it has had many monumental occassions of driving it's followers to the same type of behavior.
There was a movie I watched once along time ago. For some reason the name "The Clock & the Pendulum!" sticks in my head. however I cannot find it. It is all about the Church at the height of power and its corrupt religious leaders.

She should've used the Stupefy curse on them.

Seriously though that's really sad and messed up. Anytime parents abuse their children it's wrong but doing it the name of religion is especially egregious.

This is taking sibling rivalry to a whole 'nother level...to literally kill the competition. Her brother had initiated the attack and then encouraged their dad to kill her.

Must still be bitter from not being part of the Potter movies.
