I was involved in a regional theatre production of Steambath by Jay Friedman in the mid-1970s. I did pre-production, and the director wanted to cast me as one of the "fag pair" as he called them (I think the play actually titled them Young Man One and Young Man Two). I rebelled at the idea of playing a gay character (I was still in the US Army but attending college), but I guess in retrospect the director saw qualities in me I was denying myself.
In any case, it was rather avant-garde, with on-stage nudity & profanity, a series of exchanges all taking place in a steambath. I mention this because some 35 years later this link is rather tame and bland by comparison, just some dull dialogue in a steam room. So that I do NOT find this hilarious, but instead rather derivative.
