I don't understand the whole "fitness" thing. Like when people say they wanna gain weight, why on earth would anyone wanna gain weight? And why do you eat protein and so forth and muscle groups and all that shiz...

    Why would you be confused. In order to make muscles you need to gain weight so you can have bigger muscle instead simply being toned. Fitness is for health reasons and prevents you from falling sick or keeps your sickness relatively light because you cells are running optimally....

    Go and read up...There are so many articles around here....I suggest you read them icon_razz.gif

    My suggestion is that you do some reading and determine a few points
    before you claim confusion....

    1. What kind of body type are you currently? Ectomorph, Mesomorph, etc.
    If you don't know.. google "male body types" and do some online reading.

    2. You need to determine what you want to look like, what you want to achieve and also based upon your current body type. There are many
    "thin" guys who need to build the foundation (through things like protein supplements) to help them gain the weight necessary to be able to add muscle. There are other larger built guys who work to reduce their fat
    percentage. Understand what's up first.

    3. Decide what avenue you want to follow to achieve your goals and why.
    Why do you want to look better? For yourself? For health...... for other people? Do it for the right reasons and make your goals realistic based on who you are, your lifestyle and reason.

    4. Get input from others, from trainers and from hands on usage.
    Go to a gym and just look at whats there, how machines and weight training is correctly used. Ask questions and come up with a program that makes sense for you . It's all about how it works for you.

    ppl wanna gain weight to get big muscles. protein helps them do that. if you don't understand muscle groups or wanting to gain weight then maybe body building is not the area of fitness you are looking for, maybe you're more interested in toning or endurance training

    Gaining weight, doesn't necessarily mean fat weight... there is an element of fat that is added, that's natural, but if you are eating correctly for the type of body you are wanting to achieve, the muscles gain weight, or grow, getting heavier on the bones, which also increase in density to handle the extra weight... so don't be confused by the term, "wanting to gain weight", it's not meaning getting fat or obese...
    Read up, educate yourself on the the terminology and meanings of the weight training/exercise lexicon, so that you don't get confused...
