That was really funny in a Russkie sort of way. Someone must have worked a long time to do that interp as it really did sound like they were singing those words. I liked the guy in the middle who could do the sidestep, very good exercise for the abs I bet.icon_lol.gif

They're actually singing in German, so it's a German interpretation of Russians reinterpreted by an American (or so I'm guessing).

He does another one that interprets a Bollywood musical scene which is hilarious. I might have even seen it here on RJ first, but it's even better than this one.

They are not singing in German. They are singing in English with slavic accents.

I would guess that someone took Russian lyrics and then looked up the words in a Russian-English dictionary and made a literal translation, resulting in these ridiculous English lyrics.

But I bet the audience didnt know any better so a good time was had by all.

Actually, it's echt Deutsch. Here are the German lyrics with an English translation. They're cheesier than Wisconsin. Here's a sample:

    Moscow, foreign and mysterious
    Towers of red and gold
    Cold as ice
But Moscow, whoever really knows you
Knows that a fire is burning
    hotly inside of you

Cossacks, hey hey lift up your glasses!
Natasha ha ha ha, you are beautiful!
Comrade hey hey hey, we drink to life!
To your health, Brother, hey, brother, ho!

    Moscow, Moscow
throw the glasses against the wall
    Russia is a beautiful country
    ho ho ho ho ho
    Moscow, Moscow
    your soul is so great
    At night, hell breaks loose
ha ha ha ha ha, hey!

    Moscow, Moscow
    love tastes like caviar
    Girls are there for kissing
ho ho ho ho ho, hey!
    Moscow, Moscow
come, let us dance upon the table
    until the table breaks
    ha ha ha ha ha!

    Moscow, door to the past
    Mirror of the czarist era
    red as blood
    Moscow, whoever knows your soul
    knows that love is burning
    hotly like a coal

    Viel Spaß!

Are we talking about the same thing? ...that clip at the beginning in Timberoo's post?

The singing I hear is English...not proper German

Caslon askedAre we talking about the same thing? ...that clip at the beginning in Timberoo's post?

I think so---I played the clip in Timberoo's OP and followed the German words (the first stanzas are pasted below), and it's what they're singing. It might help if you don't look at the crazy English subtitles.

    Moskau - fremd und geheimnisvoll,
    Türme aus rotem Gold,
    kalt wie das Eis.
Moskau, doch wer dich wirklich kennt,
    der weiß, ein Feuer brennt
    in dir so heiß.

Kosaken he, he, hebet die Gläser!
Natascha ha,ha, ha, du bist schön!
Tovarisch he, he, he, auf das Leben!
Auf dein Wohl Bruder, he Bruder ho!

    Moskau, Moskau
wirf die Gläser an die Wand,
    Russland ist ein schönes Land
ho ho ho ho ho, hey!
    Moskau, Moskau,
    deine Seele ist so groß,
nachts da ist der Teufel los
ha ha ha ha ha, hey!

If anyone asks my motto now I'll say, "Come and dance and love the fish!"

No, it's a foreign language. That's what makes the subtitles so brilliant.

Try listening to it without watching it. Or better yet, listen to it while following MikeonMain's German lyrics.

Are you apologizing to me, Caslon? If so, you're entschuldigt, but I thought you were polite all along. I didn't take offense at anything you said.
