    Hey y'all--

I'm headed to Vegas with my straight friends next weekend, and I'm hoping for a few suggestions on a gay bar or 2 to visit and places to go.

I'm not a "stand and model" club kind of guy, and my dancing looks something like Elaine from Seinfeld only with more erratic and uncomfortable moments ... so I'm looking for more bar, less club.

    Any suggestions?

"stand and model" = bust out your finest gear, grab a cocktail, back up against the wall, appear aloof, don't make eye contact and wait to be approached...

I'm just a fan of friendlier places where it's easy to strike up a conversation over a beer!

don't forget pretend to be taken aback when you finally are approached.

There is a club right on the strip, but the name escapes me. it begins with a "K" I believe. It's on the next block past the new Planet Hollywood hotel and Hooters hotel heading up the strip in the direction of the Paris and Bally's, on the same side. You can't miss the gay rainbow. I wanted to go out but I had too much fun walking the strip and taking in the sites.

    Enjoy!!

I believe that it's called "Krave." I didn't get a chance to go. I just walked by during one of my visits.

    Hey COJock,
Thank you for supporting the economy of my city! j/k (couldn't resist)

As far as places to go.....If you're staying on the strip and aren't into walking much, there is the afore mentioned KRAVE on Las Vegas Blvd. and Harmon. I don't go there often because as a native I know that unless you know someone, you're wallet and bank account may get raped, beaten, and not called the next day. However, there's a pretty big dance area and you'll probably have fun if you're friends come with. If I were going to call a place "stand and model" I think that would probably be it.

On the occasions where I actually go out,I personally like to go to 8 1/2 and Piranha about .5 - 1 mile away from strip. It's pretty much 2 venues inside of one. Depending on the night, You may get a good drink deal. If you hate the music on one side, you can just walk into the other. I have a good time whenever I go because I love to hit the dance floor.

There are definitely more out here, but I figure I'll leave it with these one's.

If you're going to any club in Vegas be prepared to dress as hot and classy as possible, and be EARLY! There'll be a line out the yin yang for some of the better clubs, don't mind them; if they weren't so crowded you probably wouldn't want to be there in there in the first place. I also recommend make a private reservation. Sound like a lot of trouble. Well, for an unforgetable time in Vegas, it's Worth it! And enjoy the whole Fruit Loop, if time permits it. If you don't want the trouble of living like a rockstar than go really early in the late afternoon or on a weekday (Monday to Wednesday). If all else fails, than go to a bar/lounge in any of the big name or new casinos. How do I know this being on the East Coast? ... My partner was raised there for most of his life, and we've had MANY "visits" and vacations over the years. I also recommend going off the beaten trail and asking any locals you may find about their favorite places to eat and drink. You'll be pleasantly surprised =D

Oh yeah... the smaller, off the strip casinos are where the locals get their fix. Hit one up sometime.

Krave can be great, I've always had a good time there. Saturdays are definitely more packed than Fridays
