It's so hard to read this site on my iphone! I'd love a realjock app or at least a mobile enhanced website! It would make reading emails, looking at profiles, and reading the forums so much better! icon_exclaim.gificon_cool.gif

It works kinda decent on a mobile browser... except those javascript notifications, those are messed up to deal with on a mobile device

OMG...God forbid if you have to type a URL.

    How lazy can you get?

The extra work for a mobile specific interface doesn't add a lot of value in most cases. If I owned the site, which I don't, I wouldn't regard it as a good investment for a site like this.

Please, it has nothing to typing a URL... it's about having it easier to read without a tiny font on my screen... and to get a better look at the images... an iphone screen is pretty small.

The trick is in having a decent browser, with proper settings, as much as anything.

A good mobile browser doesn't need special accommodation.

Screen resolutions vary widely, from 160px all the way up to 1920px and beyond. There's always a compromise in layout design.

Doing special work to accommodate tiny devices only has a business payback where it makes sense. For a site like this, that payback is VERY questionable, because the site is intensely visual. I.e., downgrading all the images to a small device isn't just resource intensive, but, lowers the value of the image to begin with. I.e., it has very little utility in the big picture.

Text based sites (e.g. weather) lend themselves much better to mobile deployment. Tiny devices are very limited.

Mobile screens will get bigger, and the mobile browsers continue to get much better.

HTML5 will address some of this stuff.

This site uses lots of AJAX, and some layer tricks / css tricks. In a less powerful browser, say, a mobile browser, it's not going to behave in the same way.

RJ work fairly decent on safari mobile (iPhone) it just safari doesn't support add block out the box. That makes those little adverts on the man page a bit of a pain.

I try to use RJ from my android OS browser and it blows, on Opera it's decent. I don't mean to tout apple anymore than it has been in these forums but its a better product out the box.

html5 will fix a bunch of the mobile issues, but, won't cure them.

When shopping for a mobile device, you have to consider how you'll be using that device. If you intend to use complex, visually oriented sites, a smaller device may not be the best choice, and a notebook, Android device, or a full blown laptop or PC may be a MUCH better choice, and provide much better value.

Iphone wasn't designed for a feature loaded site, using Web 2, CSS 2 and 3. It's gonna' glitch, even on its best day.

That's getting fixed soon. Stay tuned. HTML5 will allow video without Adobe.

Works just fine on my Droid. I won't be sending any in depth messages, but I can at least check it when I'm out and about.

A little bit more work to scroll around, but I manage to get my RJ fix on the go.

a dedicated mobile app(or site) means less stress on your cellphone hardware, data usage and less stress on the RJ server, duh

Little One, if a server can't handle a single get, it's got a LOT of other issues. Clearly, you know next to nothing about scalable deployment, RCO, revenue streams, etc. That ignorance is not at all becoming to you.

We laugh at you every time you do it, too.

Your thing is that you don't know enough to realize how little you really know.

    We call it "arrogantly ignorant."

Right.... That's why every other gay site has already done it. Even Adam 4 Adam has a enabled HTML 5 mobile site.

Meh. Revamping the entire site to work on a mobile device? Now if they added a Grindr-like chat feature, I could see them pouring money into it.
Otherwise, would people pay five or ten dollars for it? I'm not sure banner ads would recoup the development costs.

its alright I prefer to laugh at you when you think you have a clue about browsers and servers but somehow you end up double posting and even editing one of your posts without even noticing that your unfinished first post is still hanging. What an idiot, easy on the roids man
