I thought that this was an interesting article about 'Fifth Freedom' rights on foreign airlines. With these rights you can, for example, fly from New York City (JFK) to Vancouver (YVR) aboard one of the worlds highest-rated airlines, Cathay Pacific, on a B777. You can also fly from Madrid (MAD) to Paris (CDG) and Frankfurt (FRA) aboard LAN Airlines on a A340 and receive all of the perks of a long-haul flight.

I'd rather you bust a nut, I guess a bubble will suffice for now.

Interesting... I've got a trip to Europe coming up, and I am certain to have a connection between Los Angeles and Edinburgh. Not sure if there is jumbo service to EDI, but if there is, should I go for it? Or what about between London and LAX via Paris or Amsterdam...

I don't believe there is wide-body service between Edinburgh and anywhere else.

Living in LA I'm sure you know that there is certainly a lot of wide-body service between LA and London and elsewhere in the world. I would recommend taking Air New Zealand for your flight between LA and London; I've heard that they have a great in-flight product. You could also try flying Air Tahiti Nui between LA and Paris; not sure of their in-flight product but it would be interesting to try out nonetheless. Then there is always good 'ol British Airways in World Traveler Plus or Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy.

I thought not... I think even CO's service between EWR and EDI is on a narrow-bodied jet. Ah well.

I was considering NZ for the flight to London... they're that good?
