Have you been on an RSVP cruise? I'm wondering what the differences are between the two tour companies.

I went on an RSVP cruise in August (round trip Rome). I had just come out and my friends raised their eyebrows at the thought. The image is floating bath house, but I found that perception to be wrong. I didn't go for random sex and I didn't hookup with anyone. Don't judge until you've tried it.

Most guys gravitated to their own crowd and if you wanted to have lots of random sex, you could certainly find that on-board, but I found that most guys weren't about that. I made some great friends. Some have come to visit me in KC.

The best part of a gay cruise is the freedom of being in a situation without any judgment. The whole gay immersion was a bit overwhelming at first, but it was really affirming after a settling in; quite the little gay utopia. I LOVE to dance, and I danced on deck every night until the DJ's stopped playing.

I've heard that RSVP has a broader clientele; various ages and interests. I think that might be true, but I wouldn't hesitate to go on an Atlantis cruise either. Atlantis recently bought RSVP, but I understand they may continue operate under unique brands. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I'm a huge fan of gay cruising after only one.

I took my first cruise, last summer, and did the Atlantis one from Barcelona to Athens. We added a few days to the start and end to tour each city, making it a two week trip. I went with a friend of mine and we had a great time. One needs to pace oneself in such an environment. To some extent, it's like a gay bar with the all the sorted varieties. Yes, there are the guys from the glossy brochures but you'll find other types too. The staff works hard to ensure you're enjoying yourself and seek constructive feedback. I felt it was a great way to travel.

Prices vary by destination and duration.

Am not doing one this year, but expect I'll do one in '09.

Best suggestion is that you go with a group of friends as that allows more flexibility in activities of what each likes to do onboard and during excursions.

I took my first cruise last year on Atlantis, it was the Copenhagen to Stockholm in the Baltic Sea.

I had heard all the rumors of a floating bath house, but after talking to several friends who'd actually gone on gay cruises, I learned that that wasn't true.

The reality of a gay cruise, is that it is whatever you want to make of it. That being said, if you want to be a slut, there's PLENTY of opportunity for that. But I actually met some REALLY great guys on that trip, and while there was a little fun, that wasn't the purpose of the trip.

The music and parties were incredible, and Atlantis really goes out of their way to make sure you have a great time.

I would love to do the London to Barcelona trip this year, but I just don't have the $$ for it, so hopefully again in '09.

About differences between RSVP and Atlantis. I believe Atlantis gets the use of nicer ships. But, I also hear that RSVP, within the booking price is the cost of EVERYTHING, including alcohol, which Atlantis charges you extra for. Someone correct me if I'm wrong =)

But gay cruises rock, I would totally do one again.

    .

I think there were a couple of RSVP charters that were on "luxury" cruise lines which typically include your alcohol, but that was a function of that cruise line and not necessarily RSVP. Those luxury lines were on smaller, older ships.

My RSVP cruise was on Holland America Westerdam which was just a couple of years old; very nice; no free alcohol. Seems like both RSVP & Atlantis tend to charter Celebrity ships which are always highly rated. FYI, I cruise a lot with Celebrity (non-gay cruises) and they tend to be very welcoming. I rather enjoy a diverse crowd (straights included). I always say if I'm there, then it's a gay cruise.

I did that cruise three years ago
    It was the Best!
Barcelona is a great city...try to go a little early and stay a few days before the boat leaves it's not to be missed
The guys there are great ... the gay life is fantastic

    ... and Musclebud...
I did the Copenhagen cruise last year too
    It was great wasn't it?
    Sorry I missed ya icon_wink.gif

but as far as the dif btw RSVP and Atlantis goes
    I don't think there's much
But going by what I've heard and the friends who have gone on both say that the crowd on Atlantis is a little younger and more tend to be single

and the thing that people say about the floating bath house is absolutely not true
there is every type of guy on there
and while sex ca n be had....
it's never in your face at all

Just returned from the March Atlantis Caribbean cruise, my second, my bf's first. An amazingly good time...wide variety of people, certainly not a floating bath house although, as some have pointed out, sex is definitely available if you're looking for it!

I think Atlantis does a top notch job organizing the cruises, getting great entertainment and just overall keeping people as engaged as they'd like to be. Our cruise was marred by a last minute itinerary change and headliner illnesses...but it still was absolutely wonderful. I also think, while it may look expensive, if you add up all of the things that are included, the cruises are pretty economical. Naturally they're just one way to travel and we enjoy the polar opposite as well (wayfinding, hostels, etc.), but it's a great way to explore an area initially and then go back if you like it.

A group of friends is nice, but we met a bunch of great guys on here...and all types and ages, the age range skewed toward the mid-40's.

Highly recommended, alone or with a group of friends, you'll have a great time!
    mark.

I've never been on one. I'd like to, though. I just need some feedback, I've heard from other guys that it's just like a huge orgy really, everyone hooking with everyone, if that's the case, count me out =P

    on there

don't be fooled by the pictures

I don't know, it doesn't sound fun. I got bored on my cruise. Everything was food, drinking and gambling. I did a yoga class and used the gym. The only fun activity was a trivia contest. There was a volleyball court but people were sunning on it. I just ended up in a deck chair in the shade reading a book.

OYE them odds suck!! but all in all it was fun and i went with friends so that made it fun. good food greta djs and entertainment and disco T dance pool side in the rain is an afternoon i won't soon forget!

My friend went on the cruise and he liked it a lot. I met him in Barcelona, and it is a womderful city. Personally, I would get too jumpy and impatient on a boat...prefer planes, cars and trains......and walking!

Joey's right Tim.......a gay cruise is a lot better than just a straight cruise. And besides - as Caslon said, you're as cute as a button. You really are. And btw, Happy Birthday Thursday!
