Alright so I told them and they said what was expected about safety and all this stuff.

They said we would work through it but the whole talk turned out to be about relationships and social life and stuff about my parents I didn't ever want to know. I guess it's just a matter of waiting on what they really think.

It's funny how it never goes quite the way you think....
Congratulations though! Welcome to the world outside!

Hey, they wouldn't be parents if they didn't make it about them.

Congrats, brother. It's all about YOU from here forward!

It doesn't sound like it was some kind of coming out to parents horror story. So you are already ahead of where many people are in the process. Just give your parents some time. Congratulations.

What, they had a counter-coming out? It's certainly a novel respose, but surely not an altogther unwelcome one. Presumably, they were just trying to demonstrate their open-mindedness.

Congratulations! Take a deep breath, you just faced a big hill and you did quite well. My guess is that the conversation took a turn towards what they were comfortable with but I can almost guarantee you that tonight the pillow talk in their room will be about you.

I agree with the others, they took it well, you're way ahead many. Relish that thought!

I too came out to my parents who said they've known for a long time. My mom could sense my hostility over Christmas when I made a comment about feeling left out from the family circle. Truly hated lying to my parents all these years when they had a notion about it but wanted me to accept it for myself and tell me when I was ready. Probably one of the few times I've cried in my mother's arms over and felt so vulnerable . Very lucky to have parents and siblings who love me unconditionally.

well mine shoved me back in.... In their view, it is not proper for the eldest of the family to be gay. It is wrong and i can be fixed if i try. I am a man who will become a full man when i am married and have 12 kids. I actually expected them to be more accepting. I mean i help my mom dress for every party she goes to. Help pick out a dress shoes and hair. I own 60 pairs of underwear. icon_sad.gif

When I came out to my mom, she didnt say a word. She went to the closet and pulled out all my HS yearbooks and started to show me pictures of me doing my HS sports, wrestling crew, CC then she said "Honey... Did you ever notice that every sport you did had a SPANDEX singlet... Well I did honey. This is no big news to me" In my stunned misbelief that all my sports had spandex ( which she was right they did) i had to give her a hug. Love my mom!icon_razz.gif

You are very lucky. Your mother has a sense of humor
