Retired to being a spectator now. Still rings were my event. Yes they really did have the sport when I was in my teens and 20s. Coached the local high school men's team for a couple of years with a friend.

I did back in HS and College, Parallel bars, vault and floors were my best area. I still enjoy watching and sometimes wonder how judges are so......dense. I even thought of going into a gym to practice again, but cant find a place?

I would love to try. I have always wanted to be a gymnast but never had the opportunity.

Trained through high school, wasn't good enough to compete at the National or Olympic level, so I started cheerleading in college. Absolutely love the sport, but the new scoring system sucks balls and is impossible for the non-gymnast to understand. icon_mad.gif

I used to do gymnastics for a long time...I started when I was really little but I quit doing gymnastics for a long time, then I cheered in college so I got back into it, and right now I'm trying to get back all the skills I used to have, I should have never stopped :/

I am a gymnast. I have always been able to do all of the things gymnast do since I was a little boy. When I was in middle school, I was discovered by a trainer who was interested in training me for professional competitions. I have "retired" professionally since graduating college and entering the corporate world but I still practice it leisurely.

I was a gymnast for 11 years and finished ranked 2nd in NY. I had to stop due to knee injuries, but would LOVE to get back into the gym. I miss it so much!

I actually just started about 2 years ago. Was just looking for a new challenge and thought it looked like fun! Still a complete novice, but really enjoy it!

cool thread! first time I came onto RJ i started looking around for gym guys but to no avail. I just stopped training recently, used to compete for artistic and trampoline. Had to stop art due to osteochondritis in my left elbow (I was never stellar at it anyway). It has been stuck with me for 3 years, but I don't think i'll ever regret doing gymnastics. Missing it like fuck!

I competed all-around at the provincial and national level back when I was a teenager. I quit after I tore an ankle ligament during my final competition back in 1984. Wished I was able to continue on, as it was bittersweet watching my fellow competitors in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

I tried to do some gymnastics again a few years ago when I was 40 and although my brain could remember how to do all the moves, my body just couldn't respond like it used to for obvious reasons. icon_lol.gif

It was a definite challenge after all these years, but I tried and I had fun reminiscing in a way, but I think I'll just stick to watching both men's and women's gymnastics from here on out. The recent World Championships was great, and am glad that network TV took the time to air it icon_smile.gif
