alright, fine. i'll finally put it out there. people have complained pretty regularly that i have "lied" about my age on here. my profile says i'm 100. big deal, right? it's not believable, so it hardly counts as an outright lie - it's my way of telling you it's none of your business how old i am.

i don't TRY to pass for younger than i am, it just happens. it's a source of constant frustration, because it undermines my ability to interact with people in many professional situations. people do not respect individuals whom they mistake for younger than they are. in fact, something completely irritating just happened today and i need to vent, so either keep reading or leave, but don't flame me later for complaining on a public thread because you've been warned of the angst to follow.

i'm helping open a new gay male strip club here in charlotte, nc. a patron at a nearby bar asked the owner of the new club if i was going to be a dancer there. the owner expained that i was. the patron then went on to say that he didn't like twinks and wouldn't be coming.

    i am NOT a fucking twink! icon_evil.gif

i am not a naive, young, hairless, scrawny, gold digging boi who thinks more about a&f than a&e. i speak three languages. i have completed the equivalent to a ph.d. i have been an educator in six universities. i have performed around the world, and i pay all my own bills.

the fact that this man has mistaken me for 18-22 and relegated my entire life experience to one step beyond childhood is infuriating, especially since the position of experience from which he presumes to demote me probably isn't that far from where i sit myself.

i've been asked countless times how old i am, and i've been evasive; however, this is the last straw. i am not a twink and i'm not going to perpetuate that image of myself anymore just to make an extra dollar off someone who isn't going to get a lap dance from me in the first damn place, since i don't fit the image of the football player he wants to hump.

i am 32 years old. now, stop asking me.

being a twink doesnt pertain to how old u are, how many languages u speak, or how far in ur education u have gone. its simply a perception. anyone that looks young and smooth and thin to me is a twink..i would say u look close to a twink

Hope you told that "patron" not to be patronizing and I suspect your club can get by with out some one who is bigoted.

Next time; when someone says something about you that you don't like remind yourself:

    I am fucking fabulous!!

Baby, listen...lol, no, I can't believe that you are complaining about lables with the same mouth you are using to bash the twink population above in a way that is harsh and more vile than anything i've ever posted about pictureless (and I have bashed pictureless to levels I thought were pretty hard to top). Stereotpyes and labels are bad no matter who uses them or who they are against. It seems that you have no problem with an unfair generalization against one part of the gay community just as long as you aren't in it. Personally, I think posting an age of 100 in your profile is not only uncalled for and sarcastic, but it is self centered. A visitor to your profile shouldn't be automatically brow beaten about your age. Who ever said it was even an issue to anyone? You assume that it is and you lash out needlessly.

    Dude, you're not a twink.
IT doesn't matter what that guy said.
Why would you take his opinion seriously if you're far more educated than he is?
    It shouldn't bother you.

    THAT said, I can't believe you're 32.
You look a lot younger lol

But hey, don't worry, I'm 25 and look 16, and I'm not sweating it...

Except when people scrutinize my driver's license in bars almost expecting it to be fake.
    That kinda pisses me off...

Labels do give us a foothold in a complex world. The gay community has many; yet we are not one. Since one relates to non of them, Not a bear, but could fit the build, as one is big and solid. But not a round beach ball. One dose looks good in leather! But don't need leather to be a real man. Since one dose not relate to these kind of guys, nor labels. One decided many years ago, working for the gay community. Don't want to grow up to be like that, to be a sterotyp. So one is just a regular guy, whom dose don't stand out in a str8 pub. One relates better with str8 men, and str8 acting men, than gay men, flamers; but you always have your exemptions. One would not pole dance for anyone either.

Age is a very relevant label in the gay community. If you say you are 100, here. So. One does not give a rats ass. Coz if you were 50, one would still talk to you here; many would not. As one is not here looking for sex. So your age does not matter. But Just as one does not want to fuck with a queen, a twink is not a turn on for one either. But one would not talk dawn to you, just because one did not want to fuck with you. Not unless you gave one attitude first.

But If you were 19, 23 30. and you want to tell one, one has no rite to have a opinion on something, one has decided to have, or appear to have. One will take very little notice of you. You may have done more than one. But one has lived life since 10, but started to suck cock at 5. (this is common knowledge with ones loved ones, so it does not matter, one makes it public here; one is an open book.) So one has already had more LIFE experience than you still may of had at 100. So age, and labels can be relevant.

I don't care for the labels of twink, bear, cub, wolf, etc. I don't use them and I don't want them applied to me by others. I wouldn't be involved with anything related to them.

If I'm ever single again, I will be a very lonely man.

Timberoo, if you are single you won't be for long because you seem to be a good catch, and you seem to be relationship oriented which is always helpbul.

And Dancerjock I didn't really care if you put 100 down, your age is your business and not anybody elses. I must admit though you look pretty darn good for 32 (not that 32 is old mind you, I can barely remember that far back).

Sigh...yet another lie. I happen to know FOR A FACT that THIS MAN (dancerjack) is ABSOULTLY 100+ years old. icon_razz.gif

It's just that he's been into fitness a long LONG time and looks really good for his age. icon_wink.gif

I would have guessed you were in your lower 30's. that said look at what your doing, your dancing around in underwear on a bar. maybe its not the perception but the portrayal that is the issue.

Yeah, I hate that label too. My ex used to go crazy of my smooth body, and sort of forgot about the rest of me. Aside from that annoying occurance, I just don't like being likened to something that defaults on naive teenage sexpot without a clue about what men are really like. It's such a turn off.

Over the years I've been called twink, thug, preppy, clone, cub, bear, muscle mary, troll, bitch, cunt, whore and probably even more while my back was turned. I don't let it bother me anymore. Someone is always going to categorize you to fit into their own little world view. Taking it personally takes far too much time and energy to make it worth your while.

I'd be pissed, too. It's not the label, right? It's the judgment, and that the bigot complained to the owner and made it about YOU. That it could affect the bottom line, that someone would have doubts about you and reconsider hiring you. THAT'S what's pissing you off.

I'd be pissed, too...how dare he lump you in, and make it seem like you're a liability.

Do what I do: take their money. The stupider they are, the easier it is for me to get them and their money to part. Work the !@#$%*! money out of his pocket, because you KNOW he'll be in the bar to check you out.

And, another question: did you he (the patron) say this in your presence, or did you hear this second-hand from the owner? If it's the owner saying this (about some nameless patron), what the hell is he telling you THIS for? It sounds like some kind of angle, buyer's remorse.
