as a career federal civil service employee, every year i wonder if the small cost of living increase raise will be enough to cover the yearly increase in my health insurance (blue cross/blue shield). icon_confused.gif

The primary issue here is that BC/BS moved from being a non-profit insurer to a for-profit insurer. Many of my family members were on BC/BS when it was used by the unions in NYC, but once it went for-profit, the premiums skyrocketed and many unions dropped it in favor of GHI. Sadly, GHI is now trying to go for-profit and will likely also drastically increase premium to pay it's greedy shareholders.

And, that's why I think all insurers should be nonprofit. Making money off other people's misery and misfortune is unethical and immoral.

Well I can hear the republicans and the "TEA BAGGERS" Yelling loudly and demonstrating against Government interference to block such a huge increase in rates !!! How Hillarious it is to watch these dumb fucks go against their own interests. They've done it time and time again and I expect them to keep up with their habit of going against their own interests in favor of their money backers who benefit from the Baggers protests, but hurts themselves. GO REPUBLICANS !!!!

You think the entire world should be nonprofit. Or "regulated" profit.

    Nope. icon_rolleyes.gif
