Despite being a complete chicken when watching scary flicks, there's something that drives me to watch them. I thinking like being scared or held in suspense. Anyways any movies you guys could recommend? I'm an extreme fan of psychological thrillers! Like this,

I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time!

I'm a complete chicken when it comes to scary movies too but I can't stay away from them. I saw some bits and pieces of The Strangers on some special that was on Chiller about a week ago and it looked good!

i agree, strangers is pretty awesome and High Tension is a great recommendation - it's one of the best i've seen. a couple other good ones i like:

    JoyRide

    and Identity

Identity is pretty creative and will keep you guessing for a while
    have fun

Sweeeeeet! I have not seen any of these and love them all from their trailers!! I honestly love the recommendations, you guys are so awesome.

The Fourth Kind was another one I watched alone at midnight (because you have to watch these movies in the dark and at midnight). SUCH a bad idea because when that tape scene happened my heart nearly stopped. I love movies that play with silence and sound effects.

    Thx again!

Wrong Turn, The Descent, and Rec (with English subtitles) are the last horror films that truly creeped me out. You may have heard of Quarantine, which is a american remake of Rec, but it doesn't hold a candle to the tension and feeling of dread in the original.

Ok, Strangers is nothing compared to the French film "Them." Almost exact same story line but much better execution.

Also, the movie "Inside" another French Film.

    Check em out. Have fun!

Scary with a little touch of horror/demons will make me scream, its hands down.

haha I saw The Shining and of course I loved it, but I can't watch it again. I just laugh when I see Jack lol. Paranormal(1&2) and Wrong Turn were great. I like paranormal more because it was more scary than gory.

All the other recommendations I am adding to my list, and soon I will be having an amazing time. The only thing is there are FEW of my friends who actually like scary movies/thrillers as much as I do so I will probably watch most of these alone. However, in my case it might be better since I do like getting scared lol!

Hope you guys are getting some good recommendations out of these too, I'd hate to have these gems of thrillers go to waste on only me.

i just thought of a couple of others. these movies are a bit fucked though, so you have to be prepared for that on a mental level.

funny games - a remake of a german film. i only saw the american version though.

and last house on the left. another remake from an earlier film

these arent really psychological thrillers like 'High Tension' and 'Identity', but they are pretty suspenseful.
if you see either of these films you just have to be prepared for some fucked up scenes - pretty disturbing and violent stuff in both.

Look for a movie called, "Dog Soldiers"...

It is on Blu-Ray and it is remastered...and it is LOUD!

It is a german werewolf movie that was made for about $25.00 but, believe me, it works.

Also, look for a movie called, "Cannibal Holocaust"...another cheapie, not on Blu Ray but, it is on DVD. Great Movie...
It looks like somebody got a video camera and went out into the backyard and dressed up some buddies in dirt and Catsup but, it just works....

Also, try "The Haunting" not the 2000 one but, the 1960 black and white version, no effects, no make-up but, just shadow and sound.
I watched this on Halloween and STILL scared myself....

Also, new on Blu-Ray is the classic, "PSYCHO"....they put and new digital mix on it and it is LOUD! and still scary as hell....Great Movie.

Honestly, one of the most inherently evil movies I"ve ever seen is "Legend", between the character design, voices, minor chord music and overall visual creeps me the hell out.

    Event Horizon is another one!

The original "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson is still one of the best horror flicks ever made IMO.

Okay, Takashi Miike's "Audition" is a Japanese thriller-horror that you should check out. Just a warning though: it gets deeply disturbing!!!

"Cold Prey" is a Norwegian slasher film...I definitely enjoyed watching it!

And finally, the film "Frozen" may be worthy of consideration. If you can appreciate a very simple storyline, it's a really good horror flick!

Oh, and another Asian horror...this one a Japan-South Korea-Hong Kong collaboration called "Three Extremes." It's a compilation of 3 films...one from each of the three nations. The Hong Kong segment, "Dumplings, is particularly grotesque!!!

Piranhas 3D! No but honestly a guy took me on a date to that movie a few months ago. Such a big piece of shit movie. So stupid and he was actually scared during it. I wanted to turn and say "just because you are gay doesn't mean you have to be a pussy"

I love scary movies but am not easily scared so there haven't been movies lately that are scary enough. The nasty ones like Saw aren't scary, just gross.

I actually thought "Piranhas 3D" was kind of funny...but yeah, "Saw" never scared me! Neither did "Hostle."

I guess I should also suggest "Wolf Creek," although I hated it. There was one scene in it that was way too intense for me!

I'd also second "The Descent," especially if you are a little bit claustrophobic!!!

Exactly. It was more funny than anything and that wasn't the intention. The guy I was with was flinching and covering his eyes. He was probably about to piss himself icon_rolleyes.gif

Does anyone other than me completely laugh at the idea of Obsessed being considered a "thriller"?

    Scary? Hmm...

If you like gore, there is "Day of the Dead". If you like funny/scary ones, there is "Return of the Living Dead". If you want to be scared (so/so) there's "Deadly Blessing". And campy/horror, I'd suggest "Night of the Creeps".

Just a couple, all good in my books. I'll suggest more, when I think of more.
