She's also a right-wing, anti-gay lunatic, so safe schools legislation will probably take a hit.

Thanks to all the gays on here who voted for these nuts because they were going to be fiscally conservative. icon_rolleyes.gif

I know what we can expect to hear:

"I didn't vote for HER, I voted for my own Republican rep, and he/she's OK." (Except if you vote for one, you vote for them all, and allow nutjobs like this to chair committees and direct legislation)

"It's not all about gay rights." (Yah know, the Teabaggers identify themselves with the Colonials, who made a revolution over the issue of individual rights. Why aren't gays allowed to demand rights, too, and make that our priority? And insist that it be addressed? "Live free or die" isn't just for straights.)

"The Republicans will help the economy." (No, the Republicans will help themselves to the money, as they have in the past. And promote the interests of their major campaign donors, at the expense of ordinary Americans. They're still operating under the discredited theories of "Reagonomics" and "trickle down" effects, but it does bring in huge amounts of cash to Republican campaigns, while creating the greatest income gap between rich and poor I've ever known in my 60 years, and the greatest shrinkage of the American Middle Class since the Great Depression.)

She's an avowed anti-gay legislator who has used her previous positions to attack our community who has now been elevated to a position in which she can do even more harm.

The hypocrisy of the man! We could ask the same about every one of his ill-conceived rants.

Is she the sort that wants to teach Biblical Creationism (Adam/Eve riding dinosaurs and 6,000 year old earth, etc.)?

I dont think there is much to worry about ... liberal academia has our education systems on lockdown.

And of I might be a smartass fot a moment - if you don't believe in the/a Diety, then why would you invoke Her/His/Its help?

southbeach might have argued before that his political positions here (which are almost all he discusses, virtually nothing related to gay health & fitness, merely endless and daily anti-Obama and anti-Democratic posts), were fair interpretations of US issues. But this post really does reveal the man.

She claimed, and it's on video and in the Congressional Record, that the Matthew Sheppard murder was a hoax. And she opposed the gay hate crime legislation named after him.

Now please tell us, southbeach, why you agree with her? Matthew Shepard has nothing to do with the economy, the excuse you frequently offer here for your constant defense of the extreme right-wing & Republicans.

Please tell us why you hate gays? And gay rights, and gay causes? Is there anything about the gay world you actually like?

So what the Hell are you doing here? Maybe it's time for you to leave. As a gay hater, I really think you've overstayed your welcome on a gay site. Especially after this defense of a known, virulently anti-gay legislator, which has nothing to do with the economy or anything else, but is a matter of her pure gay hatred. And of yours, I begin to believe.

Yes. Her record is quite clear, particularly her venomous attack on Matthew Shepard. I'm ambivalent about hate crimes laws for a variety of reasons, but one could have disagreed with that law without suggesting that his killers didn't do so because he was gay. The evidence in that matter was incontrovertible.

She needs to be tried under the Matthew Shepard act and sent to jail.

Because the thread is about a the new education chair which denies Matthew Shepard was killed on the basis of being gay. According to her he was simply robbed then killed despite police reports indicating much more than that. That makes this thread more than relevant to the forum.

No, but she's the sort that would ban teachers from being openly gay, or else be discriminated against with impunity (remember that teaching assistant who got reassigned after being asked a simple question about why he's not married?):

She can't be any worse than the "Safe School Czar", Kevin Jennings, whos best advice for an underage boy having sex with an adult man was "to use a condom", nevermind that as an educator he was legally bound to report it to the authorities. But then I guess you can't expect much better from a man connedcted to NAMBLA and it's founder, Harry Hay, citing him as an inspiration and a hero . Makes me feel real safe about sending my kids to public school.

Suppose you put up the full story for us rather than picking out just enough of the story to mislead the readers. Mr Jennings has quite a list of good he's done, Ms Fox has quite a few redneck and ignorant statements that don't very well commend her to anything in the spotlight. So when are you going to put up the full story on Jennings ???
