All I can say is "Wow!"

I've always been fit and worked out but now I'm taking my workouts to the next level with a personal trainer and going to gain some muscle.

It was brutal! Hopefully it gets better!

Any tips on when to eat before a session or if I should drink something during? Something to keep my energy up?

eating will depend on your stomach, personally I could eat almost anything an hour before a workout BUT if I had a protein shake I spent the entire session wanting to throw up.. So I never had protein, I used to eat carbs though, I'd eat fruit usually, lots of water, toast... things that were simple but that was because that was the kind of food I'd have in the morning (I used to go at 9am)

To have while with your PT, water... unless it's an endurance based PT session.

Congratulations...prior to my personal training session about 30-45 minutes I will use a SuperPump 250 from Gaspari Nutrition, is a vascular supplement, in essence it will promote blood circulation to the muscle. With this added energy, you are able to focus more on each exercise as well as push additional weight, and see significant gains. Also, like Tanker has noted I am constantly drinking water through out my training session, is important to be hydrated at all times.

A word of caution with this supplement, I try not to work out late about 4 hours prior to you sleeping otherwise it will keep you awake.

All the best and good iron pumping.

You can take some supplements but for the natural approach I would eat some fruit and coffee if you want. Eating any protein or fats before a workout can upset peoples stomachs so the general rule is wait an hour after eating but it is up to the person how they feel
