SO, the ex whom I hadn't really talked to or seen since 2006 came out from Boston to drop our first pet off, Parker. He's leaving the country and can't take her.
He brought his current boyfriend with him, and we all three had such a great afternoon yesterday. There was no awkwardness, the afternoon I spent with them was amazing, and the two of them are both really happy.

BTW, Parker totally remembered me right away and is adjusting to her new home. I needed that for my own comfort, and I've waited years for this! He was a big part of my life.

I just wished them on their way, and I am so happy to finally have that needed closure that turned out to be win/win situation.

    That's all!

I ran in to my first "true love" last October, right before I moved to DC from San Diego. We don't travel in the same circles and I saw him very infrequently.

It was great to see him, he was handsome as ever, but had been experiencing some health problems (He was in his 50s)

We talked on the phone after I moved, but the last I heard from him was a short text last new years eve.

On a lark, I "googled" him a couple of weeks ago, to discover he passed away last June. It really broke my heart.

I flashed back to all my good memories of him. I took it harder than I would have expected. He had two kids who I really didn't know and my heart goes out to them.

No matter how a relationship ends up, there are always good memories, cherish them.

Sounds like you've approached it in a very reasonable and mature way.
Good for you. It sounds like you have alot of satisfaction from the experience. I hope all goes well in the future.
