Last few weeks I cramp in left foot (middle toes) after 20 minutes or so. Thought it was hydration issue. Now, left leg seems to hurt and nerve in back shoulder blade is announcing it's presence at night when waking up.

    Thoughts?

Swimming can make my arches cramp up. Usually when I swim freestyle. So I stretch and flex them a lot before. Hard to see a connection to the other stuff. Unless you are running or something too?

i have always associated that back shoulder nagging nerve pain with de-hydration, its lasts a few days, then it goes away, i usually have this almost one or twice a month,.... i might want to have a doc check it out just in case it couldn't be a nerve damage... I sure hope its just dehydration that you are going through

Do you vary your swimming technique with backstroke? I know it's totally lame, but it works for a friend of mine to sort out back/shoulder issues from too much freestyle.

Not lame at all! I do alternate. It might be hydration though I think I drink enough throughout the work-out. Problem always shows up and near end of 35-40 minute push.
