So this is the year I want to come out to all my close friends and family. Am pretty nervous, excited, happy, scared and a lot more. Thought will share it with you guys here whether its happy or sad because I have learned its easier to get through with it when you have support. Also so many guys have shared their experience and it has made me gain a lot strength learning from their posts. So wish me best of luck.

Ok so I told my roommate and her boyfriend today and the first ones to get to know. They were really accepting and made sure I feel comfortable. It feels so good, was almost about to cry when my roommate said she still loves me and cares about me the way she did before. Am just so glad that she knows. icon_smile.gif

I will be telling my family in May when I go on vacation to see them......If that turns out even 1/10th positive of how my roommate reacted I will be luckiest guy in the world.

My dad retired from military a few years ago and that is what scares me the most. Any tips that might help me?

Well, you're welcome to tell him what you know about me, also retired US military (1969-1994). You don't go from Buck Private to full Colonel (which is extremely rare as he would know) by being a stereotypical pansy.

If he has a problem it'll likely be with the stereotypes, so that's what you gotta dispel. Hopefully you also have straight siblings, because many fathers want grandkids, and I can't help you with that one. If one of them can produce a grandkid for him you're off the hook on that count.

    E-mail me as you wish.

I do have siblings, two sisters and they both have daughters and I love them very much but still sometimes wish I had a brother as well to take away the pressure of family name off my shoulders.

Got back from my vacation, came out to my sisters and they said they fully support me, just asked me to be safe. One of my sister is in medical profession and said she is there if I need a friend, sister or medical advice. I am so happy to have such wonderful sisters. They have asked me not to tell my parents yet as they want to bring it up with them gradually.
