i love pop music, but lately there has been a plethora of discussion on here and nothing else. can we please have a hiatus? today i woke up for work at 5am. on sunday mornings, missoula is empty and it's just me in the bakery. it's so quiet and i love having the morning to myself. as i make my bread for the day, i love to relax and settle into the week with some old school country, americana, and bluegrass... please share songs so i can add to my playlist. here's what i've been listening to...

Never heard of Ryan Bingham, that was a pretty cool song. Doesn't hurt he's good looking as hell either.

Johnny Cash has got to be one of the most epic musicians in American history.

His music is so simple in beat, but so catchy.

. . . you could do worse than make your way through Emmylou Harris' body of work . . . and give Gordon Lightfoot's Don Quixote a listen . . .

I'll have to go for Matt Wertz in this category. I have many more songs like this on my playlist. I could give more if you're ever interested. icon_biggrin.gif

    Pop music is cool...in moderation.

Moderation is key, as it is with all things we engage in; so, I can understand seeking a break.

This thread reminded me of some songs that I've not listened to in a while (there on *gasp* cassette tape). However, the beauty of the interwebz you can listen to them on youtube now.

The artist is The Black Crowes, album is The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion

Because I am so familiar to listening to these tracks in order, I'll share "Thorn in my Pride" first

followed by "Bad Luck Blue Eyes"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIs9r4xu7YI

    and "Sometimes Salvation"

I know, they're just pop songs that I really like in rock/punk form. Here's a country one that I like by Rascal Flatts:

Drive-By Truckers are cool, if you're into alt-country/cowpunk music.
