They don't know the lyrics, the tempo is too fast, and they can't sing with emotion because they can't relate to what they're singing. At all. And it doesn't look like they've rehearsed very much. icon_confused.gif I feel kind of embarrassed for them. I don't want to see my grandmother sing about "riding dirty."

Yes, I agree completely, but there was something about watching them sing these songs that makes me burst out into laughter. Maybe its just me.

    ...

bahahahahahahahahahahaha!! in all honesty, the idea and concept of seeing these individuals sing the songs that were presented was different, and i liked that. but, the execution and presentation needed work, because half of them didn't know the lyrics, how to sing the lyrics, nor put any feeling into the lyrics. maybe if more practice was put into it, the overall presentation would be better.

OK, they're pretty poor. I've been a member of a gay chorus (technically a "choir" only sings in a place of worship), my job being to speak as MC & narrator, and pretending to sing with the chorus at the finale. But I did have one of the greatest moments of my life, in 2008, performing on stage during the GALA Chorus in Miami, held only every 4 years, when over 6000 GLBT singers in 147 different choruses from around the world performed for over a week of nonstop concerts. That I've written about here before and posted pics.

And my partner's sister, a retired opera singer, directs such a chorus of elderly people here in south Florida. They sound pretty good. I have no explanation for this aberration, since anybody of any age can sing well enough to be entertaining.

It takes guts to deliver a whole concert of embarrassing performances, like they did. BUT WHY would they do it...

ok, maybe they are considered kitsch and actually have fans icon_confused.gif

Um, that's got to be a spoof.
They're doing it on purpose as a joke.

Well, they are neither 'funky' nor 'fresh', but they are a 'senior choir'. What on earth possessed them to try that repertoire? Perhaps they were gasping for the oxygen of publicity. Had they done it well, it would have been ironic and good. As it was, it was just cack.

I'm not negative about it. But I can't watch it. It's the same reason I can't watch Ben Stiller movies: I hate feeling embarrassed for other people. I don't think it's funny. I just feel really uncomfortable. icon_neutral.gif

The good thing about church choir is that it is volunteer. And the bad thing about church choir is that it is volunteer. As the director you have to work with what you have. A good director though would also know what the choirs strengths are, and not bring them music that is more appropriately suited for a youth choir. I quit listening and may have blocked out whether this was a rehearsal or a performance. Either way, sign me...
    "My Ears Are Bleeding".

ps. maybe signing this song would be better than singing it

I just went back and listened again. Were they auditioning for Sister Act? FunkyFreshSrChoir? seriously?

Having song with a choir, and a gay and lesbian chorus, as a second base, can't say I even found that to be funny.
