What are some associations for personal trainer accreditation that you guys think are good? I don't really know how to tell if they're credible from online. So which would you recommend?

NASM- National Association of Sports's more of a hassle to become certified through them, but i think they are accepted at more gyms/more credible than a lot of others.

The ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) is considered by many to be the gold standard, as it is a very rigorous exam, and those that pass it can be guaranteed to know their stuff. The NCSA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) is regarded by many to be roughly equivalent to the ACSM.

The following are NCAA approved Certified Personal Trainer certifications which indicates that they all will give you a sufficient level of knowledge to be an effective and professional trainer. I won't provide all the details on these but you can google them if you want to. That being said the vast majority of trainers in professional gyms and high level programs are mostly ACSM certified, the second most common is the NCSA. I would strongly recommend one of those two. They are difficult and rigorous exams, but they are going to give you the best background and certification for gaining employment in the field. At all costs, DO NOT take one of these 49.95 internet training scams, they aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

YngHungSFSD Has done his homework. All of his comments are great. There is also a school that takes 6 months and you are completely ready for the NSCA, ACE or ACSM exams. NPTI (National Personal Training Institute) I believe there are 22 locations across the country. go to learn more.

Mine is thru NFPT, i took my course at one of the local colleges here in Texas, however, i found out that ANYONE can take the test, just pay ur 30-70 dollars and they let you take the test, so the online groups would be my last resort if i were you, unless you want to be one of the many who end up lucky, taking the test and passing then you know nothing about what you are really doing, sad but true there are alot of em out there, do your homework, invest your time and money, it will be worth it in the end
