I am going to be brave and finally dump the contacts and glasses! My Lasik surgery is scheduled in 2 weeks and I am a little nervous ... anyone had the surgery and able to offer some encouragement?

    :)

I had Lasik 3 years ago & my vision is now better than 20/20. My eyes are still sensitive to water (or soap) getting in them, but it's not a big deal. I only wish I had done it sooner. Just make sure you go to a reputable surgeon to have it done.

As for the nervousness, it's very common. At the clinic I went to they gave me what they called a "happy pill" which was a very mild tranquilizer to help relax you & relieve anxiety. Ask if they give you one of these.

I had the procedure done several years ago. You have nothing to be nervous about. It only takes a few minutes. Afterwards, you go home and go to bed.

When I woke up the next morning, I could see. My eyes were scratchy for a week or so as they healed, and my vision got better everyday. I didn't have any complications or downtime afterwards.

    Good luck :-)

it's great. I had it about 2.5 years ago. Still have some dry eye problems and use artificial tears a few times a day. But from 20/400 to 20/20, can't complain. Took about 45 secs per eye. I was back at work the next day. No pain.

Good luck, great investment I bet you won't regret. Let us know how it turns out.

I had my surgery done about half an year ago.
I was pretty nervous the day before...but I still had the courage to do it because I know how much I would benefit from this. The procedure is very fast...2 minutes the most, but you do need to be cooperative with the doctor. You have to stare at a little red dot without moving your eyeballs during the surgery. It can be difficult under the circumstance. If you get nervous, just take some deep breath and try your best to relax your muscle, there is nothing you can do besides let your doctor do his thing. The surgery is very safe and accurate nowdays. Actually, how to take care of your eyes after the surgery is more troublesome for me. Well, I am glad you made this life changing decision, Goodluck and trust your doctor. Have a party after you recover!
