Try this recipe for home-made lube: it's cheap to make and it works!
Recipe for "Gumbo Lube"
Natural Okra Personal Lubricant
This lube contains all natural ingredients and has a really smooth and slippery feel, without the unpleasant stickiness or sweetness of glycerin-based lubes. A little goes a long way!
6 fresh okra pods
250ml (1 cup) of water
2 drops pure lavender oil (or rosemary oil)
2 teaspoons natural orange essence
Put the water in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Slice the okra thinly into rounds about 3mm (1/8 inch) thick and add to the pan of water. If you wish, before this you may slice the okra lengthwise and remove the seeds (which contain no mucilage). Simmer slowly for fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally to break up the okra pieces a little. The liquid becomes quite viscous.
Put through a fine strainer while still hot, using up to a tablespoon of boiling water from your kettle to wash through. Try to avoid too much vegetable matter going into the lube. (Straining through cloth is ideal but not necessary). After straining into a jug, place liquid into a microwave oven and bring back to boiling point (about thirty seconds). Add the drops of lavender oil and the orange essence and mix well.
When cool, using a small funnel, decant into a clean plastic lube squeeze bottle. Makes about 100ml (3 1/2 oz). It would be wise to store this lube in the refrigerator if you intend to keep it for a long time. If you use a lot of lube you could easily double or triple this recipe.
