One-liner proverbs that annoy you

What common phrase that has pretenses of enlightening you, but in general is just rendered trite into a platitude now, gets on your nerves because of the lack of sincerity when being used?

One I particularly hate is, "hang in there; things will get better."

It's become a quick way to escape actually helping someone by focusing on healing resolving their emotions instead of resolving their actual problem. When I was jobless I would ask around to my friends if they knew anyplace I could apply. Ja know, I was networking. Most of them replied with, "times are tough but hang in there you'll find something." I'm like, "No, I need specifically a location, number, email, website to go to to apply for things. 'Hang in there' doesn't solve my actual problem. It keeps me jobless." When addressing this 'hang in there' response to my real friend he said sarcastically in a gay voice mocking the other fake friends, "Yeah hang in there because I don't have time to fucking care about helping you." He totally put in perspective how I feel about that saying now.

I honestly think there's a lot of adages that are abused to the point that they just dissemble people's true feelings because they're too afraid to speak what's on their mind, which is more likely to be apathy or antipathy. It's really fucking annoying. It's like verbal decorum has been dumbed down to a short list of twitter-like conversations.

why would someone as attractive as you be single?

(cliche one liner......grrrrr it gets on my tits....as if we are all just desperate to get attached to anybody who would have us, and the only conceivable reason that would impede this happening is one not being attractive to others... usually it is a line to butter you up, and consider the person saying it as a potential candidate ......:icon_rolleyes.gif )

Proverbs turn into cliches I guess you could say when they're overused. It's a fine line between them. They're pretty close like a Latino cock inside another man's butthole close.

HAHAHAHAHA, Good one!! This one is so awful because the underlying assumption isn't even logical: it presumes there's a positive correction with looks and relationship status. It also assumes you don't want to be single. So many good looking people love being single (whores).

Proverb: A short, pithy statement of a general truth, one that condenses common experience into memorable form.

eg. A fool and his money are easily parted

Cliché: an expression, idea, or element of an artistic work which has been overused to the point of losing its original meaning

e.g. A cliché to me is like a red rag to a bull. However, there's an exception that proves a rule, and there is a cliché which fits my situation like a glove.

    Proverbs certainly can become clichéd.

OH MY GOD WE AGREE ON SOMETHING!

Somewhere far far away in a galaxy that takes billions of light years for it's photons to reach our Hubble Telescope's giant eyeball a star has been born.

The phrase "That's gay". I'm hearing it a lot less than I used to, but irksome nonetheless. What somebody just said (or did) makes them gay? Only gays say or do that? I don't think so.

I once had four people separately tell me to "think positive" in the space of about six hours. I was ready to snap.
