Hey dummies, while you keep pointing the fingers at the culprit with the Arizona shooting, this guy ran over to help save Giffords. I think you should all know his name ( Daniel Hernandez ) and remember what he did. In fact, RJ featured it as an article and I want to serve it on a platter to you guys by threading it in here.

    http://www.realjock.com/article/1863

*sigh* due to backlash from people saying, "why should we care that he's gay you're race sexual orientation gender height blah blah blah shouldn't matter."

Here's my response (oh and it's deep mother fuckers)

Obviously no one should care to point out he's gay to make any statement other than to motivate homosexuals to aspire to be as benevolent, intelligent and brave as this guy was. In that respect it's important to point out he's gay for the gay community to better itself. Moreover, even though the media ins't emphasizing his homosexuality because it's 100% irrelevant to what he did, it helps to know that for once the media portrayed a homosexual without showcasing him as a self-obsorbed arrogant flaming homosexual with a penchant towards creating some stupid artistic style on a reality TV show. That is very important for the straight world to see.

It really seems confusing because it is important and isn't important depending on how you view the world. If you already know homosexuals are a diverse group of people then being told this guy is gay will annoy you. If you think homosexuals are a stagnant group of disease spreading selfish religious bashers, then hearing that this guy is gay will shatter your schema.

So if you're one of those people who don't understand that why it should be pointed out that he's gay, well then give yourself a pat on the back. You're more psychologically evolved than other people who NEED to know he's gay in order to develop a better or holistic perception of homosexuals. However, if you're annoyed by this and think no one else should know that this guy is gay, then you're socially retarded.

If Congress were comprised of ladies and gentlemen, they would repay his efforts by repealing DADT and permitting same-sex marriage.

With the Congress we have...probably not.

Sorry but the fact if he was homosexual, pure or not, bisexual, heterosexual pseudo or not, or even lesbian, white black, Muslim Mormon or Jewish should all be irrelevant. How many gays and bi's get bent out of shape when a deal of their sexuality is made, yet make a deal of others.

Sorry I really don't give a rats arse if he was gay or straight, white or black, American, Mexican, Aussie, or Australian, Republican or Democrat; who cares.

No fuckwad I'm pointing out that some gay guy DID help the situation amid countless threads of people on RJ complaining about whose to blame. Now shut up before I have to take your Vodka away again.

    I agree... We are people.

Yes, beyond bunches of assholes arguing in countless threads on RJ regarding who is and who is not to blame, there's a homosexual out there that isn't arguing and the spotlight should be on him NOT because of his orientation or anything. But this is in the right thread because this thread is about a gay hero. But of course it doesn't matter who he was but since he was gay it fits in this forum nicely. Moreover, I was trying to reduce the psychological closeness for people on RJ to see that not every gay guy is bitching and complaining about who is to blame. But obviously I failed with sexydrkhair and True_blue_ass.

Here I make a thread lauding someone who is similar to all of you in hopes of you realizing, "hey there's a gay guy that got off his ass and DID something." But instead of realizing that someone HELPED you're just disqualifying him immediately because you erroneously think I'm focusing on his homosexuality. No, I'm focusing on the fact that he's a homosexual that did not point blame but helped the situation, unlike RJ members who are pointing fingers or getting defensive.

God damn. It's like some of you people purposefully don't see good in anything, even when it's shoved up your ass. This thread will die and the other 12 pointing fingers will survive because there's obviously no point in applauding a homosexual; just yelling at a homosexual. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes we are people, and we don't all let our sexual orientation define us as a whole, and play the victom, poor is me because I can't get married, I would be a better, nicer, kinder, less shallow if I could.

    Thanks JAKE!

As for the wet blankets, young gay people benefit from seeing gays being heroes. So do others whose bigotry is from ignorance. This example wakes them up a little that gays aren't 'them awful people'.

The only point I proved is that I care as much about you as you care about Sarah Palin. That's not good for both of us.

Um, not really sure where you're getting with that thought as it pertains to the actual subject of this thread. But here, I'll do you a favor and link it so you can pretend you had a point...

In this thread I'm putting emphasis on someone who is gay (so you can relate) that doesn't play victim, was better, nicer, kinder, and definitely was not shallow in this situation. If anything, I expect gays in this forum after reading this thread (the good parts) to create an upwards social comparison between their behavior and this guy's behavior in hopes of helping themselves become a better person.

I didn't. The moment he started with "Hey dummies" I knew it was just going to be more of the same from the little sabelotodo.
Truthfully, the fact that he's gay is not nearly as important as the fact that he took action. Huge applause for that!

Agreed, but if the killer was gay, we'd be hearing about it endlessly. A friend of mine pointed this out - the media are quick to mention sexuality in a negative situation (murderer, victim), but not when they are a hero (eg. 9/11 rugby dude on UA93). I think he has a fair point.

Hernandez was on Rachel Maddow earlier this week - she didn't bring it up either, but it was a great interview and he is truly an inspirational hero - at 20! *thumbs up*
