im sorry to hear that they responded that way. in one short answer, u cant change their thinking, especially if they are from an older generation. It hurts and i would feel resentment towards them, but u have to get through it, dont let it take a huge toll on it. Many gay men have been through hard times, and its not ending any time soon.

OH DAMN !!!!! Having been to many a family reunion, I can only imagine how hard a blow this must have been for you !!! I'm sorry this happened to you buddy !!!! From my own experience, people have such ignorant biases, I think because when they read of a gay person raping a young boy, they immediately assume that all gay men are prone to do the same thing. The only thing I can tell you is that statements and actions of this nature are based pure and simply on IGNORANCE !!!! My church going father one time made this statement !!! (we were talking about the immigration problem) He said --- "What we aught to do is send all the queers to Mexico and keep the Mexicans" I just had to choke down what I felt like saying and ignore it. ignorance is about the hardest aspect of family that we have to deal with, and there is often no reasonable conversation to deal with it.

All my sympathy. People who argue like that should be kept away from kids. I'm a fag and I love kids. I will never hurt something that is part god. I would like to have a kid of my own one day. My boyfriend has a four year old boy and we all love him. If anyone ever does anything to that boy I will kill them myself. I think parents are naturaly scared of preditors and many misconceptions have been formed over the years by people who are simply scared of what they don't know. Allot of people are'nt like that though so rather hang out with them instead. You don't need people that discriminate against you.

Yes Moudi your right, it was harsh !!! In my case my parents are elderly, (upper 70's) so no use turning their life upside down with confrontations about gay's and (with my being their oldest son)about my being one of them. But its OK !!! I'm thick skinned !!!! But my heart really goes out to this young man that started this thread, such a confrontation as he had has more than likely made the rounds of his family, and now he'll have to deal with it from now on. I do hope he has family members to kind of take him under their wings to counteract those bigoted actions. Mr Ventura--like you say, children are little extentions of God, the most valuable gift of life. I hope you can have a child, I had two, a son and a daughter, Talked to my grandson on his 8th birthday the other day, and he's all excited about getting to go fishing with me this summer. Being accused of doing possible harm like the starter of this thread, would be a real blow, people like you and him, can show those around you that being gay has nothing to do with harming a child, the best to you guys !!!

Confirming my opinion that the average person is a dumbfuck, one incident at a time. Meaning no offense to your family, just to their regrettable averageness.

    Sad Angel
    That blows, man.

This kind of stuff makes me mad.

Also because I LOVE kids. I adore my 4 year old niece and 2 year old nephew.

Ignorant people automatically equate homosexuality with pedophilia. As if being gay automatically makes you a psychopath with dozens of perversions.

I actually heard one parent WARN his kid from going to a known gay professor during a party. Stupid stupid woman. But she let her kid play with my niece who I was watching over - I wonder what she would've done if she knew that I was gay too. The irony.
