Why is it straight guys always (mostly) are opposed to gay guys being around them because they will be pounced upon? I told a guy you're not all that when he said he didn't want to be in the same shower (gym, army, etc...). Why do straight guys think any gay man in the vacinity will lose control and pounce on them? Even butt-ugly guys think any gay man will automatically desire them.

Insecurity? Closet? Homophobic? Afraid they are gay?

Insecurity is a really great word to describe it... My former stepfather used to say the same thing. Oh i don't want to be in the same shower as those "fags".... my step father was hairy and slightly overweight, who would want that.. Seriously

    Straight guys are pussies.
Gay guys can go to a straight bar and feel completely comfortable.

The sheer amount of discussion around the concept and term of "the straight guy" on this site is amazing.

societal programming coupled with ignorance of who we REALLY are. When I told two of my best friends I added "don't worry, I have never in the least thought about you that way"....guess what their answers were? "Why, what's the matter with me?'....................................Keithicon_lol.gif

My dear Paul, you prove again how wise you are.

I used to be in the "bravery" business. (And what you do flying those little planes is pretty brave, too). So I recognize bravery when I see it, I used to formally honor & decorate it.

And so I can honesty say, and from personal experience, that most gay men can put most straight men to shame when it comes to bravery. Oh, the straights may have cornered the bullying & bragging market, the showing-off market, but when it comes to sheer personal bravery, nah.

And really not surprising. Many gay men live a life of constant high risk and potential hostile confrontation. Often outnumbered, they have to develop survival skills that straight men never need, except for all our brave members of the armed forces of all orientations, including the women.

Let me put it another way: if I found myself in some serious personal crisis, where I desperately needed help, like in an accident or a fire or some disaster, I would far rather have a gay man around to help me than a straight.

And don't think I'm not considering those silly screaming queens. Don't forget, my dears, who REALLY drove the Stonewall Riots, and started this whole gay revolution from which we benefit today. Gay men are tougher than tough, because we have to be. Don't ever lose sight of that, or allow yourself to be told otherwise.

And it's usually the modest-looking guys who think gay guys are hitting on them.

It's like "Get a grip. I'd rather be straight than to hit that."

I think deep inside they want to be desired.

Or, to be fair, they assume that gay guys are hitting on them or will simply because they have been programmed to believe that by their parents, their pastor, Republicans, etc.

I'd say it's a combination of ego, ignorance and curiosity/closetedness.

IMHO, Straight guys know how they think about women and assume that we think about men the same way... and many of us do. Being in the cross hairs of a gay man's desires - real or imagined - makes them very uncomfortable in a deliverance kind of way.

Haha ^^ reminds me of this one time in highschool when a guy full of himself talked about not wanting to be hit on by gay guys and a girl responded "What makes you think gay guys would want you?" and he got so pissed off.
