Hi guys,

I thought I've read something written by in this forum that I need to reload my carbs after every workout, and there is a certain time limit to it (as in - I have to rush to eat as much carbs as possible before this time limit), if not it will eat into my reserves (god forbid).

The thing is, I cannot find the thread anymore!

Can some kind soul give me some advice?

Note: I just got some carbohydrate powder. Before this, I tried to reload my carbs with banana yoghurt drink (1 liter).. I suppose that was not too healthy, was it?

From a previous post

You need a liquid protein drink within minutes after your workout. The reason, your body will optimize 300% of the protein at that time. An hour later about 75%, and 3 hours later only about 12%. Optimizing your protein and carb intake is as important as the workout itself.

A great book that explains this in depth is Nutrient Timing by John Ivy,Ph.D & Robert Portman, Ph.D. I highly recommend it to everyone that's into bodybuilding.

Great workouts

Thanks Joe!

I must have misread it, thinking I have to reload my carbs immediately.
I'll go get some protein powder later.

Question: is it ok for me to mix the two together?

zero wrong with that food choice the alternative is just a supplement not a magic powder and you are paying for fancy packaging and convenience thats all

But you are talking food optimisation here but before you can optimise you need to get the bigger picture right so I would focus more effort on your overall daily intake first and worry about the former when you start getting that higher
