wait for PSP2 or get 3DS.

Doesn't really matter which model you get, the PSPGo is horrendous though. The screen is way too small and too expensive.

The version doesn't matter unless it's a PSPgo model. The only differences between each are pretty minor witht he except of the jump from 1000 to 2000 which I believe had some extra ram, but I doubt it's noticeable in game play. I would recommended the PSP-2000 but that's really just personal preference.

Just stay away from the Go.

As far as getting a PSP2, wait on the announcement. Rumors are saying it's going to be expensive, but we'll see next week.

Oh it's free... take what you can get.

The PSP 3000 just comes with a brighter/lighter screen and cannot be "un-bricked-" there were also a few cosmetic changes.....

    It'll probably be a 1000 though. icon_wink.gif ...talk about a brick.

you'll be better off with a DS seriously. Theres nothing innovative enough about this PSP that makes it more appealing than a smartphone.

    It's free.

-but the (current) DS is mostly for casual gamers with titles like "Nintendogs-"
"Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-land Mayhem!-" "Minion Mayhem-" with a few exceptions----> "New Super Mario Bros."
So to me the DS is more like a smart phone than a PSP- Check out http://www.toucharcade.com/ and see for yourself- How many games like "Dante" and "God of War" have you come across on a smart phone?

*Yes I know the newer iphones can run games like Dead Space- iPhone -but how many developers do you think will develop games that complex when you can get rich off games like "Angry Birds"

**I'm not saying any system "sucks or rocks"**

3DS is more powerful than PSP not only at generating more pixels per second but as a full dedicated gaming system.

Anyone who spends time playing games on a portable console shouldnt call himself a "serious gamer".

Nintendo has always sold way more portable consoles than Sony. Sony thought that the same strategy they followed with their PlayStation Classic and PlayStation 2 could be easily adopted for a portable console...they failed big time.

So basically u are telling me Sony's PSP future is barely hanging in the hands of third party developers that could easily switch to any other platform as portable consoles keep losing market share to smartphones(PSP just keep selling less and less every single quarter). At least Nintendo is giving u more dedicated gaming hardware than a smartphone can(DS sells like frigging pancakes).

I'm sure ull have fun with ur PSP but u just won't probably find many people to share that fun with.

That's the sound of me scratching my head.

I never once said anything about the 3DS... never. ever.

The comparisons were between the DS and the PSP.

If Sony releases a PSP2 then we can compare the features/specs of those two systems- but comparing one generation of a video game system with the second generation one of another is simply not fair.

lol really? PSP2...this device doesnt even exist. Nintendo 3DS is a real product about to be released in less than 2 months and for someone whos about to purchase a new console this is a BIG DEAL. The only real PSP "upgrade" was PSP GO and they barely sold a few thousands, pretty embarrassing(mainly cause of the high price tag at $250).

Anyway Im looking forward to seeing what they will bring with their PSP2 maybe a dual screen console with 3D technology? Its not like PS3 already managed to literally copy Nintendo Wii...Sony is a mess seriously.

PSP2 is rumoured to be as powerful as the PS3, from a cost / benefit analysis it would be very easy for sony to use the same graphics chip / cpu since they are small and cost effective. I think they are down to 22nm. Nintendo had success with the Wii and DS primarily because they had a strategic advantage over their competitors (cost and product differentiation). The novelty has worn off, wot hurt SONY the most was the early adopters high price tag. I dont think they will make the same mistake... 3DS looks cool but its just a gimmick... and its awfully expensive. If SONY plays their cards right this time around, they could easily take away market share from Nintendo as they did with the launch of the original PSX.

The problem with Sony is that they lose focus on what they're making, video-game consoles. When they entered the market with their PSX they saw a huge opportunity with the introduction of Compact Discs making it the standard for game storage while companies like Nintendo and Sega were still stuck with cartridges. However Nintendo 64 was by far a more powerful console than PSX. The same strategy worked for PS2 big time with DVD playback but the same strategy punched them on the face with PS3 blu-ray play back. Sony has never been innovative when it comes to making a difference in the way we play video games. Nintendo has been the one shaping this industry since it first existed and even Microsoft can take a few credits for big innovations in the video game business but not Sony. Hopefully one day Sony will do better cause the only thing they seem to be pretty good at so far, is running after Nintendo's ass copying everything on their way.

No no no- you misunderstood again.

I said "if" they release it- "if-" rumors are just that- rumors- so "if" they release it then you can compare.

The PSP GO is still considered a "first generation" portable gaming console for Sony with regards to power and specs- kind of like what the DS lite, DSi and the DSi XL are to the DS-

The 3DS entirely (power/specs/etc.) new system.

The 3D is an optional feature for developers- if you take that away you still have a pretty powerful system.

As far as the PSP2 specs-features-etc- let's just wait until/if it's announced on the 27th.

I said "if" they release it then the OP can actually consider buying one, in the mean time we compare what theres available for him to purchase.

.... powerful system? Its basically emulating a Nintendo 64... I can guarantee that there is a profit margin on every system sold from day 1. Typically its the software thats suppose to generate the most revenue, and the hardware is the sunk cost. The Wii is nothing more than a 10 year old gamecube with a gimmicky controller. Nintendo knows wot works but honestly theres far better games on Playstation and Xbox than Nintendo. They have to do a lot to attract 3rd party. I mean Im looking forward to Metal Gear Solid and Zelda... both games are last last gen ports.
