I love Representative Anthony Weiner and his no holds barred approach to legislation
He is one of the few people in Government who tell the truth about the republicans and what they are attempting to do

Let's try the drinking game he tells us to do
I'd be under the table in the first ten mins icon_wink.gif

He used to be my congressman before I moved. My current congresswoman is just as progressive but not as visible.

He reminds me of a kid everyone called "Motor mouth" - the speed, accent, everything. Always brings back a good laugh.

i'm not so sure i love a 'no holds barred' approach to legislation...you know, these people we elect are supposed to be adults -- responsible, honest, intelligent adults who can work with each other and get things done for the country. buuuuuutttt....the other side doesn't play fair, they don't adhere to those rules of civility, they are the ones who lie, they are the ones who create boogeymen to get people to vote against their own self-interests, so we need someone (actually we need more) like rep. weiner who will speak truth to these bullies and liars. so in that respect, g-d bless him and more power to him.

If you were going to hold up Weiners "truths" next to McConnels or Boners, "truths" which when looked closely at, are exagerations and missinformation to cover their real motives of voting for the big business interests rather than ours, Whose 'truths" would you bet the farm or your lifes work and savings on ??

I know !!! that was an unfair comparison wasn't it !!!!

Both sides have their own version of the truth. We have to sift through it and find the real truth somewhere in the middle

Well CJ, I don't doubt your statement at all, both sides vote based on where their political funds come from, we cannot afford to give either side a blank check that's for sure. But I were going to gamble I would trust Weiner even up against a lot of Dems too, but especially if put up against McConnell and Boner.

    I think he's sexy.
    I love his accent.
I love his sense of humor.
And, he's one of the few Democrats with the balls to stand up and tell it like it is.

Post proof that Weiner has said something false.

    Cant resist.

He also has the attitude that the government should tax an estate again an conflates inheritance with income.

No one in there right mind thinks inheritance is the same as income.

He is Rahm Emmanuel 2 and lives for the politics and fight. He isnt really interested in compromise.

No one in there right mind thinks inheritance is the same as income. ...

I have seen Weiner interviewed on TV where he did support inheritance taxes. His justification was that it is unfair that money only inherited, not earned, should be tax-free.

The position on inheritance taxes by the left-wing more than anything else illustrates their world view. In effect, their desire is not to just redistribute in income, but also wealth or assets. This is very significant. Expanding on the fairness point they always tout, they believe it is fundamentally unfair that one person is born into a wealthier family than another. They believe that someone does not have the same right to inherited money as they do to money they personally earn.

In my opinion, many of these people would be quite satisfied with a 100% inheritance tax, in other words, preventing one generation of a family from passing on the fruits of their labor to the next generation. Something this extreme would never fly with the moderates, so they don't state such an extreme position.

That income taxes have already been paid on this money does not matter to them. They don't care. It also reflects their disregard of the family unit. They don't look at this as income earned and taxes paid by the family. How else could they justify requiring taxes paid when money goes from one family member to another?

In more blunt terms, they advocate government seizure of wealth and assets as part of a grand scheme to level the playing field. More than anything else, their position on this earns them the label, socialist, that they so strenuously hide from.

"The position on inheritance taxes by the left-wing more than anything else illustrates their world view."

Bullshit. You make a sweeping generalization. Canada is one of the countries in the western world without inheritance tax. Pierre Trudeau was the leader of the Liberal Party.

"Since the government of Pierre Trudeau repealed Canada's inheritance tax in 1972, estates have been treated as sales (a "deemed disposition") upon death, except where the estate is inherited by a surviving spouse or common law partner. Tax owing is paid by the estate, and not by the beneficiaries. Registered Retirement Savings Plans and Registered Retirement Income Funds are wound down, and the assets distributed to beneficiaries are treated as withdrawals, i.e., they are taxed as part of the income of the estate at the normal applicable personal income tax rates with no reduction for capital gains. Non-registered capital assets are treated as having been sold, and are taxed at the applicable capital gains tax rates.[2] Interest or other income from non-registered non-capital assets that is accrued up to the date of death is taxed on the final tax return of the deceased as the normal tax rates, and is not included on the tax return of the estate."
