Really is heart breaking to read about and see in the news.
You can donate anything you can give or even volunteer here: http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html

Hope all the queenslanders RJ's are safe and sound.

the depressing news stories on the flooding going on the tube look all-too-reminiscent of the post hurricane katrina floods that devistated 80% of new orleans in 2005.

my sympathies to the austalian victims. as a life long resident of new orleans; i KNOW what they are going thru!

Thanks, it's nice to know that we're on the global radar icon_smile.gif It would've been more devastating if the rains were continuing like it was projected. I helped clean up two suburbs since I wasn't affected, one was close to the city (West End) so it was inundated with many volunteers and the other (Sumner Park) had none which was incredibly disheartening. I don't know the reason but I think they were taking volunteer groups to one place at a time.
The smell was really rancid at Sumner Park, it was a food warehouse I cleaned up, that I vomited and couldn't work indoors. The saddest realization was driving through affected suburbs and half the trees were green on top and the bottom half was brown and the piles of damaged furniture in front of many houses and buildings.

When they first reopened the Airport a few days after Katrina had passed , and we were landing , tears came to my eyes , as the sight of the devastation .
