Is that really the case? I thought most DADT related discharges were Honorable, or at least General (under honorable conditions). I thought all benefits were lost only with Bad Conduct and Dishonorable Discharges. Is this not correct?

His case is not a DADT case (which as far as I know is in abeyance at present, pending full revocation/recission).

He is being terminated (Dishonourable Discharge) for willingly exposing people to HIV as a carrier.

AFTER the passage of DADT. Rarely before then was it an honorable/general discharge.

well i dont necessarily thing taking away the VA benefits help or do much of anything.
He will likely qualify for a myriad of local or state benefits or even disability plus medicaid. ( which can be even better than VA medical benefits)

either way the government is going to pay.

So he wont be paying for his "medication" you will. Which in his case is a good idea, as whatever it costs its best if we treat him so he has less chance of infecting another.
