    So far I am considering:

    Extreme Fitness
    Goodlife Fitness
    YMCA

Which one would you recommend and why?
I am switching from my university gym, do I have any leverage?
Any gyms you would recommend? (I don't know any downtown)
Any gyms that offer a better deal than the probably $24-27 bi-weekly?

    (Specifically in Toronto)

Extreme has a bad rep in the billing department. Also for very hard sell tactics. I've seen some of their advertising and it's flat out untruthful, as well.

Goodlife is a bland, mass market midd of the road workout factory. If that's all you want, that's where you'll get it.

YMCA has the best rates, no contract, decades of impecable reputation. It's non-profit, so they're not trying to squeeze dollars out of you.

    Are you into Cross Fit?

It is not cheap. One of many tools in the fitness toolbox.
