So I have Psoriasis, which is a genetic disease. I get patchy skins sometimes,it's not reptty but it doesn't deform me, I deal with it.

Recently it started on my face. I'm going out tonight and it was particularly red. SO I drop by an overpriced makeup store to pickup some liquid foundation, coverup, just so it doesn't look TOO terrible.

I Walked around the store for 15 minutes, while the ladies who worked there did nothing. Finally I asked for help. THe woman flat out told me she doesn't know what to recommend, because Men don't wear makeup. I was shocked.

I've never been told something like that, especially when I'm not looking to buy mascara, or eye shadow, but coverup.

So tell me, Bad customer service or the truth. Maybe a little bit of both?

Ever wear ant kind of makeup? Did you when you were younger?

    WHy or why not?

PS, ended up going to MAC, great girl, gave me 15% off when I told her what happened at the other store. Love her.

I think you should ask your dermatologist for advice on where to go for makeup. I'm sure they have some places in your area they could refer you to that would specialize in the type of makeup you need.

Mizu5, I don't mean for your skin type, I mean because you are a man. The lady you asked for help in the department store was just thrown because it is very rare that they get that request from a man. Here is my second suggestion- ask a drag queen for assistance.

Ahaha nono I know what ty[e os makeup works. What I'm saying it, it's irrelevant your gender. Liquid foundation is liquid foundation, I wa sunware of what provided the most coverage, I didn't want something sheer. And each company sues different colour varieties. I am NC25 for MAC, and Natural ivory or some shit for covergirl.

I jsut needed something to make my red face not red.

Some steroid creams are totally conducive with the Shampo, Mr., yep yep!! Many peeps do this daily, pretty mundane..But, just in case, you ought to just it with that good 'ole Derma Doc! icon_wink.gificon_wink.gificon_wink.gif

OMG! MAC Has the worst foundations ever! Their undertones to their foundations are extremely strong and will make you look like you have
jaundice ( NC which is yellow undertones; NW are red undertones). Since She gave you a Liquid foundation I'm guessing it's Studio Fix Fluid which is notorious for breaking peoples skin out. It broke my skin out like no other and I wanted to slap a bitch.

For guys(YES! GUYS WEAR MAKEUP!) All you would have needed was a good concealer and spot conceal where your redness is,maybe mix in a green color corrector depending on how bad the redness is.

If you wear a full face of foundation without bronzer you're going to look washed out and obvious. icon_biggrin.gif

OH!, MAC is at the Low end of "high end" when it comes to Cosmetics

Try eating half a cantaloupe a day. It is excellent for the skin and eliminating inflammation.

Sweetie. Men do wear makeup. I'm more done-up than probably most those girls in that store.

I wear a full face of foundation everyday. I don't feel comfortable without it. you would never tell; even with pictures.

I was a makeup artist for years.

    I'm good.

Androgyny was invented years ago. G.C.CHANEL invented it!

There's nothing wrong with facing the world with your perfect face; you give them the perfect turn, you give the look that they are looking for.

Don't let anyone tell you are less of a man because you wear makeup. It's a great tool!.

    Hey Mizu5!

That's just crappy customer service. What a dim bulb. Stuff for men is huge now (though we don't use anything, just dirt from outside *straight face* ).

No doubt her boss would have had a fit eight ways to Sunday had the boss heard her say that.

She's a bitch and a gawd awful saleswoman.
She should know rule #1 "The customer is always right."

Whether you want to cover up your psoriasis, want to buy something for someone else, or enjoy wearing makeup just because you enjoy wearing makeup shouldn't matter.
The only reason to return to that store is to notify the manager that the woman (she is [i]no lady/i]) is a poor representative of their store.

I wore mascara and painted my nails black, but that was for a Eurotrash party back in my college days. I've also worn stage makeup as part of a few Halloween costumes.

A man is defined by his character. If he wears makeup, if he talks with a lisp, if he kisses other men, if he throws a perfect spiral, if he shoots and skins his own food are all irrelevant to what makes someone a man.

I would have made the bitch feel guilty by talking about my skin condition. If that doesn't work I'd tell her she's fucking retarded for not being aware of all the feminine gaysians in Vancouver.

I'm betting SHE was asian though. Ever since Michelle Phan (bless her amazing heart) monopolized the make-up tutorial industry on youtube, I have seen more asian cosmetologists than ever at my local pharmacy =/

You could be right. Fresh-off-the-boat Asians can be very gender stereotypical. When I was a raver buying some rave bling in the 90s, the Asians laughed at me. They were like, "Why you buy for you? That is for little girl." I wasn't offended though and felt honored to show them I was bashing gender stereotypes (oh I don't dress like that now fyi...candy kid days for me were 1997-2000).

I would be looking into treatment rather than a cover up, but, then, maybe I'm naive.

Yes, you are. The OP is in treatment, but psoriasis is a stubborn bitch, and sometimes you just want to go a single day without hearing "Why is your face blotchy and red?"

Yeah researchers don't even know the specific etiology of it but your immune system thinks if has to make more skin when it doesn't, creating this condition.
