    Simple

You reach this exact point of your life, right now, reading this text,

Time stops, but you remain frozen and consious.

You hear a voice in your head tell you that you must give up your ability to see, your ability to hear, or your ability to speak... or else your life will be taken away. (or some bullshit like that)

So - which do you choose?

I choose to be mute... I think!

    You?

    Mute.

    I could learn ASL.
Plus with texting, IM, email, etc speaking is almost unnecessary.

And I'm safe from embarrassing myself during karaoke nightsicon_razz.gif

Mute for sure, I don't talk a lot as it is.

Couldn't imagine being blind or deaf

How morose! However, I'm inclined to reply

-If I lost my vision, I seriously think I would end my life.

-Deaf would never permit me to listen to the music and people's voices that soothe my soul.

-I guess that leaves mute. Although, I have a friend that has been enduring a horrenous battle with cancer. She lost her trachea, esophogus, partial stomach, uterus and soon her life as she is pallative. She hasn't been able to speak for a 18 months and it seems like a little part of her personality died with her loss of voice.

I already have a severe hearing loss in both ears, so going deaf is not much more of a greater step away from what I'm used to.

So I'd choose that, and then immediately see about getting a cochlear implant.

And music isn't just heard through the ears, so it wouldn't be the end of the world in that respect icon_smile.gif

Mute. Curiously, BTW, I already have 2 hearing aids, and the vision in both my eyes has begun to deteriorate quite a bit lately, especially my left rather dramatically just before Christmas, causing me to limit my driving, and altogether stop at night.

But mute because I value seeing and hearing the most. And while I do have a trained speaking voice, if I went deaf I wouldn't be able to use it very well anyway. So might as well lose it outright, but still be able to hear the world, even with hearing aids.

I would have to say speach. I can't imagine not being able to see your handsome looks or hear the neighbors banging on the wall to tell us to stop making so much noise.

    I'd be a mute, I don't have much to say anyhow icon_smile.gif

I wouldn't mind dating a blind or deaf guy though

Definitely mute, it would save the rest of the world from karaoke nights while still letting me enjoy all the beauty of the world.

I would argue that you'd definitely need to be able to hear in order to play sports.

Well, if you're deaf, you're pretty much mute anyways... I'd rather be deaf than blind, but mute is the easy answer to this riddle icon_smile.gif

I'd would rather be blind... So I don't have to see the ugliness of the world... Because when it comes down to losing your life, you have already seen enough as it is.

Like most others here, I am going with mute. I think most of us can easily picture in our mind how we could overcome this obstacle. Being mute would certainly make life a lot less easy, but I don't think as much as the other two choices.

hmm..i for sure don't wanna be blind so between being deaf or mute, i'd rather be mute- that way, i can still write down my thoughts to communicate with people..

i just think if I'm deaf, then for people to communicate with me, they have to write their thoughts down instead, and knowing how lazy people are- that would deter any possibility of conversation...

I wouldn't be able to choose, I would just let them decide for me. I could adjust to whichever I lost.
