This is probably better off in one of the Eating/Weight sections, but oh well...

I'm currently cutting weight. No special diet here. I just try to keep my overall calories below 2k and protein above 150g/day.

    FAMILY RESTAURANT
Cheeseburger & cottage cheese or soup instead of fries

    STEAK HOUSE
Hamburger Steak and steak fries (just because I like them)

    SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
    Salmon steak & steamed veggies

    ITALIAN RESTAURANT
    Chicken Marsala

    CHINESE RESTAURANT
Buffet if they have it, and then I'll go heavy on anything with mostly meat & veggies. I'll avoid sweet and sour chicken and too much rice. Shrimp's always good.

BUFFET (All you can eat and they have everything)
I'll eat whatever they have with meat on it and probably a lot of it.

    FAST FOOD JOINT
Cheeseburgers or unbreaded chicken - I'll generally order double what I want then throw away the bun.

Grilled Chicken salad is always a safe bet.

    Salmon with anything.

    At any of the above.

Remember to ask for any sauces on the side and no added salt.
(fyi, if you ask for no added salt at most fast food places, you'll always get the freshest of the fries.... not that I go to McDonald's 3x a week or anything.:-) )

If you're planning on eating regularly, keep in mind that many restaurants add flavor enhancers, added salt, msg, etc. So when you order mention that you would prefer not to have any of these items. Steamed vegetables with sauce on the side with chicken is a good way to go at any Asian eatery. Thai uses a lot of sugar in their recipes. Japanese is the most clean, I think. I eat a ton of sushi.

At a steak house, I order steak.
At a seafood restaurant, I order seafood.
At an Italian restaurant, I order Italian people.
At a Chinese restaurant, I order Chinese people.
    At a buffet, I don't order.
