That's really disturbing. I can't believe a woman would willingly put herself in a subservient position like that just because she read it in a book. I know some Xtians take everything that's said in the bible literally, but my word, she's not only pushing back women's rights by decades, she's pushing back society by centuries.

That would be like a group of black people believing that it's their place to be slaves just because once upon a time it was the way things were.

    Very, very disturbing.

There are some very anti-religion people who go so far as to say raising children in the church is akin to child abuse. Seeing people like this religious father, who proudly boasts that he's "brainwashing" his children gives some veracity to that claim.

I think this guy was the extreme though. There are lots of religious families who aren't nearly so controlling, and for this guy that's what it comes down to. Control.

For domineering, misogynistic men who furiously refuse to have their authority questioned and demand compliance from their family, the Bible can be an easy and convenient way to justify that kind of controlling nature. "It's not my idea, that's what God wants."

I don't have a lot of patience for people who think the Bible is the final word on any subject and that their interpretation of it is beyond questioning.

That second video is worse than the first. That lady is just filled with the love of Jesus, I tell you.

Honestly, I think she has mental illness issues and it manifests itself as hyper-religiosity. That is just not a normal, healthy brain.

Abraham was like that. And he's a prominent figure in the THREE great religions. Hm...

Those videos demonstrate how shocking some people carry religion. At least the woman in the second video isn't the Bomb Belt type. That would be a really big bomb.

    Holy damn.

    That was something....

The first dad, who is freakishly proud of brainwashing, i cant belive that someone would be so twisted!

Although the dad who has a PhD in the Bible seemed kind of conceited, thinking that he must know more than her because he had a PhD.

And then of course the lady in the second video...freaky!

This is generally why I avoid religion...makes people crazy!

If you watch the full thing she mis-pronounces a religious term and he breaks down into tears

Did anybody notice in the first video that the wife who went to the nonbrainwashed house was arguing with the man to finish her sentance?
Does that strike anyone else as odd that she would be arguing with the Man of the house?

Doesn't surprise me because he's not as hyper-religious as her, so none of the teachings she follows apply. She'll obey a "true" believer and he his chattel, but she won't respect someone who doesn't share her values. Its a bit hypocritical, since he IS the man of the house.

Well, if you think about it, it's probably something she can't do at home, so she's getting a taste of liberation and taking advantage of it. She'd probably get slapped for doing that at home.

Thats why im slightly confused. If she feels free to argue any point where she knows she wont be beaten or forced to be quiet, etc. why would she go back to that enviroment. Wouldent practical thought say:
    1) She's more comfortable when she can talk back.
    2) Becuase she can talk back, she does have individual thought
which leads to the idea that the only reason she is subservient is she is going to get something out of it?
    born again Christians frighten me.

So, these are the people who don't think we should be allowed to get married, right? Because marriage is sacred, right?

Sacred? The wisest man in the Bible, Solomon, had 700 wives. Makes you wonder where the fundamentalists get "one man, one woman".
