    I've had this on my calendar for a few weeks now. Thanks MikePhil for helping to get the word out.

    May I spend the hour licking, and sucking, and nibbling on ShawnTO's nips?

    I think this is a good idea, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do while I have the lights off. Do I just go to bed early?

    Events like this kind of irk me. I know it raises awareness about global warming, but unless I see real change in people's behaviour then turning the lights out for one hour is just a publicity stunt. If I see statistics indicating that the sale of SUVs and other gas guzzling cars is plummeting, or that A/C use is dropping in the summertime then I will feel hopeful (my brother does not even have A/C in his home he is such a diehard environmentalist).

    Here are some of the things I do to lessen my impact on the environment.

    - switched to lower energy light bulbs;
    - rarely use the car, take the transit;
    - turn the treadmill off after using it;
    - never have the TV on unless I am actually watching it;

    My next car (if I get one) will be a hybrid.

    There are so many things we can do on a day to day basis to lessen the consumption of energy.

    Jb, I would agree with you, that it is just a publicity stunt. But I think, that is what, it is meant to be. We all know one hour won't save the earth, but it make people wake up, and think about all the unnecessary use of electricity. Maybe some will realise that they don't necessarily need all the lights they normally use, so in my opinion, this "EARTH HOUR" is well worth it.

    BTW guys, don't just switch off lights, there is lots of stuff in your home that use electricity. For example, a charger plugged in but not charging is still using electricity.

    Well done JB on the things you do to make a difference.

    Metropolitan Manila also held an hour of darkness in honor of this. No streetlights and stuff. I wish it was nationwide. icon_confused.gif

    Ok, we save an hour of electricity today. But how much energy are all those babies gonna consume starting 9 months from today? .... icon_lol.gif

    The cynics say that it won't make a difference, but every effort counts. Now I wish people would just turn off the lights when they're not using them, even if it's just for a minute. And not letting the tap run! It's one of my pet peeves.

    Well good on ya matey. Since you are not a breeder, and thus will never pass on your sperm, and have grand kids, or great grand kids, so on. That was truly good of U! And since U know U are only a caretaker for your spot of land, and you will be gone in a few years. U don't have to worry about such things. As soon there will not be enough food, power, livable space.

    But since your sperm will not live on. You don't have to be worried by such things!

    Went to the condo's gym today. The treadmill was on! Grrrr! Who the frig do people expect to use it? Marley's Ghost? Little things like leaving lights on or equipment on drive me crazy. Call me anal, guilty as charged.
