A motel in Summerside, P.E.I. is the only one in Canada to make TripAdvisor's list of the top 10 bargain hotels in the world.

The Cairns Motel in Summerside comes in at number four on the list, which was released last week, and is also the only motel on the list.

Aaron Wedge, co-owner of Cairns with his wife Kendra, said they offer a clean, reasonably-priced stay.

"We built brand, new rooms last year, they're brand-spanking new," Wedge told CBC News Monday.

"Top of the line furniture in them. We use … pillow-top beauty rest beds from Simmons, and you don't find those at any chain hotels. So we try to go a little above the rest."

Wedge said there are added touches as well. Kendra makes "animals" out of towels, including lobsters, and places them on every bed. The garden won a Communities in Bloom award in 2007.

Cairns is in good company. Some of the others on the World's Top Ten Bargain hotels include the Cedar Park Rainforest Resort in Australia, the SeaCoast Inn in Massachusetts, and the Aegean Gate Hotel in Turkey.

Top price for a stay at Cairns, in one of the new rooms with two queen beds, is $69.95. A standard room with one queen bed goes for $49.95.

Summerside is only 15 minutes from renowned Cavendish Beach and Green Gables, immortalized by Lucy Maud Montgomery in the books Anne of Green Gables.

Cavendish Beach is located on the North shore of Prince Edward Island (Canada's smallest province) - arguably our "Maritime jewel."

Cavendish and its spectacular white sand dunes featured prominently in the recent Live Broadcasts of Regis & Kelly when they broadcast from Charlottetown, PEI last year. It is WELL worth the visit!
