Who would have thought that a 36% meat filling product would be so delicious?!

Fast Food is like DADT. Just eat it, enjoy how good it tastes and never question what you just put in your mouth. icon_wink.gif

I love taco bell. If you don't like it, don't eat there. If you're too stupid to think its actually all meat then... well.. thats very sad for you.

Mcdonalds puts soy in their beef and no one complains.

Just like most other processed foods -- it's got chemicals in it.

I call the grocery store the "Chemical Mart" now, lol.

Phew, I can gladly say I'm happy I never got sucked into the allure that is known as a delicious fast taco from taco bell....

Only ate it like 2 times my entire life.... never knew why but now I'm glad, haha! icon_razz.gif

On a side note: It also explains why the ex always shit his brains out after eating that stuff icon_rolleyes.gif

Not if you listen to how Taco Bell describes their offerings to the public, which is the point of the article. Such a blend of meat and other ingredients is legally supposed to be called a "meat filling" not "meat." In fact, Taco Bell may not even be satisfying the USDA criteria for meat filling, which is required to be 40% real meat, while this stuff appears to be 36%. That's practically nothing more than a "meat flavored" filling. I'm glad I read this.

I happen to like hard-shell beef tacos (I got hooked on Tex-Mex when I lived in San Antonio), but I get them from local Mexican restaurants here, not fast food chains. Or make them at home, since they're very easy.

I use a powdered taco meat mix when I pan-cook the ground beef. Or for less fat I used ground turkey meat, to which I add beef flavoring first. Done correctly, and with the taco mix, it's almost impossible to tell them apart by taste, appearance or texture.

Then I just top the filled hard shell with grated cheese, shredded lettuce and diced tomato, all of which I sometimes buy packaged ready-made if I'm feeling lazy (which is most of the time). And that's all I like to put on a taco for myself, no cream cheese or anything else. They even sell a flat-bottomed hard taco shell that holds more, and stands upright by itself, no need to have one of those holder racks. Though I still prefer the eating experience of the traditionally-shaped shell.

Less beef and more vegetable by-product is a good thing.

If anything, this makes me want to eat more Taco Bell food.

Seriously me too! Taco Bell is apparently 2/3 vegetarian.

Nothing with "by-product" is a good thing.

    New Ad Campaign:
Taco Bell Beef: now 64% Vegetarian!!!

(edit: apparently the idea is already catching on icon_smile.gif Seriously, honesty issues aside I'm not sure that "filler" is a bad thing. It mostly comes down to what the nutritionals are at the end of the day and whether you want to eat it for the price.)
