These 'cool' kids are throwing slushees/ice/snow in the faces of gays/lesbians on a street/in an area that is openly accepting of gay people, getting the idea from a show that openly confronts and attempts to tackle problems (SPECIFICALLY BULLYING) that many people in the LGBT community face on a daily basis to make the point that they don't accept gays?

The only picture I am getting from this is that they are most likely closeted homophobes. How can you like Glee but still do this...I just don't get it.

The LGBT community should retaliate and bash back. That would be epic and badass.

Progress on gay rights always results in pushback from the gay haters.
But overall we're continuing to make progress.

    So, screw them.
They're losers - and their side is LOSING.

Thats exactly what should happen, If it happened to me, I'd cram their cold slushies down their damned underwear putting their jewels "on Ice". Then dare the little fuckers to attack anyone else. I'd come back with a group of gay buddies the next time to put more more "jewels on Ice"

If we don't allow ourselves to be picked on, then the bullies move on to some other weaker group for their kicks.

    Kick the kids' ass.
It's 2nd degree assault (assault with a weapon) and a hate crime! Those police officers also need a kick in the ass. Calling this "foolishness" is fucking stupid. If it was me I'd kick the kids asses then press charges. If its their first offense they'll get probation if not :] I won't lose any sleep sending one of the to juviee for a few years.

    To add to that thought...

Hey, dudes: since marriage equality is a new concept, saying that "well, marriage has been between a man and a woman for thousands of years" is NOT an argument.

You are essentially saying this: "Well, you guys are fighting for a right, but I just want to tell you: you've never ever had that right before. So, like. That means that you shouldn't ever get it."

We have a similar problem at York Central Hospital, in the upscace very gay friendly community of Richmond Hill. There's a high school on the other side of the street. At lunch time, the students overwhelm the cafeteiras in the hospital. They push over little old ladies coming to visit their husbands. The problem is not an anti gay issue. It's a civility issue. We've contacted Alexander MacKenzie Hight School, to help stop those old ladies from being toppled over in the cafeteria, but they declaim their ressponsibility for the actions of their students. High schools, it appears, are no longer responsible for turning out people who can contribute to society.,

Have the man who was attacked get the identities of the idiots discovered, have them expelled and blacklisted by all schools in Ontario (public Catholic, and private) - seen it happen, its very much real and its a life ruiner. As well have them charged with assault/hate crime/littering/ and vandalism.

Basically, throw the book at them icon_smile.gif All this will deter any future idiots from pulling shit like this again and will help evolution out by basically letting them slip through the cracks.

(god help the world if i were ever given judiciary power, haha)

If you really want to go there, then my suggestion would be to use boiling soup.

How about we save the soup and use boiling water. People are going hungry in this world and you want to waste food *shakes head* icon_lol.gif

I don't think I would react very well to this happening to me for any reason. If this were any where near as common as the story makes it out to be, I would head out to a pig farm, collect a 64 oz cup of pig manure and engage in my own "warfare" with the little pricks. I don't mind being covered in slushie... Just be sure to have a good excuse as to why you needed the manure (attempting an experiment at home using methane gas?)

It's 2nd degree assault (assault with a weapon) and a hate crime!

The problem is that it is not a "hate crime." (Though you are correct about it being assault, and it should be prosecuted if for no other reason than to set an example and demonstrate that you can not go around throwing things at people with no consequences.)

    From the same article:
"Not all targets have been gay. These include a middle-aged woman and, repeatedly, the crossing guard at a Church St. public school, who also has filed a police complaint."

To suggest that it is a hate crime is to suggest that it is more serious to toss a slushie at a gay man than anybody else. I suppose that I am somebody who believes that the label (and the serious consequences) of prosecuting a hate crime should be reserved for something that was done specifically because (and only because) somebody is gay, black, Jewish etc. and not just because they happen to be a minority.

I agree, I don't like throwing out and hiding behind hate crimes for every little thing. For Christs sake we are men, so act like it and we should be taking our own part and when some bunch of thugs pulls this kind of shit, just take care of it yourself or if in a group if necessarry.

Make them little pricks scarred to death to ever try their mean tricks again. Hell, walk with a cane and give one or two of them a good caning. Be men and just handle it !!! The manure Idea would be very effective !!! I like that one !! But whatever it takes, we should stop acting like wimps and give a persecutor hell, they'll stop, you can count on it.
