Didn't see this in the recent threads, so I figured I'd make a thread about it.

Hands down the best movie I saw in 2010. I went to the theater twice (and I only did that for SALT) and have to say that the movie is beautiful shot, dramatic and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Natalie Portman plays an amazing lead and Mila Kunis does an amazing job as the supporting role. Beautiful cinematography.

They were both really good actors...however the movie was not good..there could have been more depth to the movie. I was falling asleep during the first 30 minutes of it.

100% Agreed. It was predictable and was hard to sit through. The symbolism in the Film also was not subtle, at all.. I hate how people were trying to compare it to Fight Club, um no

The only reason i believe the movie is popular was because of the vajajay eating seen. icon_redface.gif

    I really enjoyed this film.
I went mainly to see how the ballet aspect was going to show and I was fairly pleased. :-)

take away my gay card, I have had the screener for 2 months. I tried watching it 3 times. it did not have beautiful cinematography, it was shaken and walking hand cams.

Darren always writes a crazy movie (requiem to a dream) was his best work. This was ok.

On the 3rd try, i finished the film and said, really? ... it didnt have that power "ommph". I thought winonna ryder was excellent and so was mila and barbara hersey and everyone NOT nominated.

am i the only one who thinks it wasn't so great?

I loved the film, I really like Darren Aronofsky, his films (requiem, the wrestler, this) always make me feel so emotional afterwards. The next film he's directing is the wolverine sequel, I don't think thats gonna win any oscarsicon_confused.gif

Great film! Not quite my favorite Aronofsky film (my personal favorite is The Wrestler), but definitely excellent and well made. I loved how campy it was and how there was absolutely zero subtlety. Just a really amazingly fun, entertaining film, and nothing more. 10/10 from me. I think it will hold up really well over time.

In terms of acting and performance (acting and dance) it was pretty amazing.
My only problem with some movies is that I don't pay $18 to have a movie end with "your own interpretation".

Seriously, I gave you money the least you could do is tell me by the end what EXACTLY happened without having to google the shit out of it.

Also your statement about the "your own interpretation" ending is pretty ignorant.

    **CAUTION**

    **EXTREME SPOILERS**

There is really only one interpretation:
she killed herself because for her to become the perfect swan queen she had to make the story become a reality. In the story, the swan queen kills herself, therefore to be the perfect swan queen she had to actually kill herself.
This of course is all spawned from how fucking crazy she is mainly caused by the amount of stress she was under from her mother.

Yes movies in sydney cost $18.
That is mostly why I want to understand exactly what happens by the end to get my money's worth.

And LOL sheesh don't hate, I was just saying that watching it at first go left you with too many questions that if felt like you had to "make your own interpretation" to understand til you googled it.

I can accept that I'm just slow then but come on lol, I did say I still liked the movie.
