So a guy came up to me yesterday and said that one's calves should be the same size as one's arm. That would be ideal. I think the size of calves and arms can be different depending on the person. What do you think? Arms have a potential to be more big i thought.

Well having both muscles at the same size may appear to make you look more balanced lol.

are the arms and legs the same size? Is there a proportionality component to this?

I don't know. I t was just a random conversation at the gym. Theory he goes by, but I'm thinking that legs have potential to get bigger and calves are a one-way buldge :-p arms are two...so of course they'd look different. I donno....just curious on other's thoughts.

I've heard that before too, when people are talking about proportionality. My biceps are 15" and my calves 14", so that's close enough for me.

If I had to make a choice, I'd rather have bigger ceps than calves.

I'm with 1972--I wish my arms were as big as my calves. Years of soccer did great things for my lower body. Now if I had just focused a little on the upper body during that time as well--drat!

I'm with 1972 and Chewey. My calves (which I don't workout) are 2-1/2" greater in circumference than my biceps (which I do workout). Big thighs too, so I suspect genetics are playing a role.

My calves are a lot bigger around than my arms, I think.

Genetics def do play a role
    esp with calves
I happen to be living proof
I never thought or heard that your arms should be the same size as your calves
I'm an inch off...my calves got my arms beat by an inch
    16 and 17 respectively

/signs up on the "wish my arms were the size of my calves" list

Norway has mountainous terrain and years of walking to and from school have had their impact. I've also got some possible bio-inheritance from my parents.

This got me thinking, so I measured my arms vs my calves.

    Arms - 14 flexed, 13 unflexed

    Calves - 17 flexed, 16 unflexed

I'd like to have my biceps the same as my calves, proportionally you look more balanced when they are very close in size.

Currently my biceps are about 15.5 not pumped, and about 16 pumped up, calves are about 17 1/4 not pumped, haven't measured them post workout though, not sure of pumped measurement.

My goal is to get my arms and calves to 18" and have the rest of my body in proportion to them, at about 6% bf.

As someone else posted, it really comes down to genetics. Some guys can work their calves to death and they'll never get bigger.

I have a solid lower half, about 17" calves, yet my bi's only measure about 15.5. I would LOVE to get my arms the same size as my calves, but I think it's hard for my body type *shrug*.

I did hear someone tell me once that to have your neck, arms and calves all the same measurement is an ideal goal, but who knows.

That would seriously rock! I have 18" calves and sad tiny 15" biceps. Too bad Chucky isn't here to tell me that my pathetically deficient biceps are a product of hanging out with fat people, my false beliefs and not jerking off to his youtube videos.icon_biggrin.gif

I think a guy's calves should be about the same size as a guy's arms. What creeps me out is when a guy's forearms are bigger than his calves because he never works out his legs.

This has gotta be genetic. I'm amazed at the size of some guys calves, guys that don't even work out. I find this thread interesting cause my calves are pretty much the same as my upper arms, whether I am leaner or bigger. If my arms are 14.5 my calves are 14.5. If my arms are 15.5 my calves are 15.5

The proper ratio is actual forearm to cock...the closer in size they are, the more likely you'll be employed...in porno...or disco.icon_redface.gif
