So lately I have noticed that I have many small new moles appearing on my body. These moles are pretty small, pretty much like as though someone went and placed a fine/medium black Sharpie marker on my skin while I was sleeping. For example a new mole that appeared on one of my fingers and another one on my stomach, and another one on my ear. I've read that moles are nothing to worry about but these moles seem to be appearing at a quick rate in the past few months. Also I read that you shouldn't worry about them if you get new ones when you're young like under 20. I will be 27 in a few weeks.

I am going to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist just to be sure it's nothing. Hopefully it's nothing serious so at least I could play connect the dots or pretend I have a constellation on my arm lol.

Anyone of you experienced new moles appearing on your body at a quick rate?

You're doing the right thing in seeing a dermatologist. I would give a referral for a mole by the ear immediately. That's part of my training as an Audiologist; one of the things we look for, and many melanomas can occur in these places. I've seen melanomas on the auditory meatus.

They are probably nothing if you don't have a family history of melanoma.

I just had two moles removed myself a couple of months ago. They were nothing, and I really had them removed for cosmetic reasons.

Do you wear sunscreen? Chemical or mineral?

Unfortunately I have moles all over my body. I had 25 of them removed last summer from the left side of my body and will have the other 25 removed from the right side this summer. None of them were anything serious. My doctor always checked them every time I went in to see him. You are doing the right thing by having them checked because you never know.

The sunscreen I wear says SPF45, the medicinal ingredients are Octocrylene, Oxygenzone, Avobenzone (Parsol 1789). So I'm guessing this is chemical?

I only wear sunscreen when I go running or biking outside because I am directly under the sun and I go for long periods of time. Summer of 2010, I walked to work everyday (15 min walk) and did not wear sunscreen. For the fall and winter (I live in Canada), I did not wear sunscreen but I am pretty much covered up all over my body.

My family does not have a history of melanoma, so I am leaning towards "it's nothing serious" but "let's check anyways to be safe".
