Here's the total number of posts on Realjock.com as of January 30th, 2011 at 3:45am PST

RAW DATA FROM FORUM CATEGORIES (in order of popularity)
    General Discussion 881,535
    Dating, Sex, & Relationships 126,616
    Fitness 56,201
    Health 31,414
    Sports 22,715
    Nutrition 21,655
TOTAL POSTS: 1,140,136. To put into perspective, it's about 1.9% of bodybuilding.com which is at around 60,510,783 posts (I know it's like peering into the Universe and thinking, "there's so much more?!?!?"). I'm not sure why Realjock.com isn't on http://rankings.big-boards.com/ though.icon_confused.gif

The All Things Gay sub-forum alone (this forum), with 697,284 posts has MORE THAN TWICE as much as every other forum combined (everything BUT All Things Gay), which is at 316,236 posts.

The two Dating, Sex, & Relationships sub-forums at 126,616 posts are slightly less than the fifty-two sub-forums under the Fitness, Health, Sports, and Nutrition combined, which is at 131,895. The Gay News & Events sub-forum itself comes in close at 105,347 posts.

    IMPLICATIONS
Although this site was originally intended for fitness discussion among homosexuals, it has evolved into a general website for gay men.

    RELEVANCE
This is one of the few sites, or possibly the only site, that has an easy to use navigation, easy sign up, many hot guys to look at, and at the same time centers itself around men's health through discussion forums. It's basically inviting for anyone and everyone to join. Moreover with its additional categories to fit a growing number of subjects, it's turning into a general discussion board for homosexuals who aren't necessarily going online to jack-off. Good for Realjock.

HOW TO USE THIS THREAD IN CASE OF A FLAME WAR
If someone tells you that you're hardly a jock because you don't post in the fitness categories, you can kindly point out that most posts are not in the fitness categories. Then, you = win!

    DO I HAVE A LIFE?
No, of course I don't. I couldn't think of anything better to do with myself at 3:45am than to look at numbers and make something significant from them.

I wonder if the data would have distributed differently had the admins put the sports forums first and the general and news forums last on the page.

I think a lot of posts end up in All Gay Things cuz it's first...convenience Cuz it's more likely to be see there...proper forum may be so far down nobody's gonna see it and respond.

I know I dont go search for some bizarre category way down the list just to be forum-correct. But I'm Caslon. I dont have to.

Honestly i think its interesting this site has evolved into what it is.
Very encouraging for other guys out there who come here and feel a sense of belonging.

One thing that I have noticed is that there are MANY threads started under All Things Gay that would be better suited for another spot. Threads that are started about something political, health, fitness do NOT belong under All Things Gay.
Yes, this is a gay site..and we are all gay...BUT I don't think every topic should be under All Things Gay. I might be that some people think their topic might not get any hits if they put it where it belongs.....icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif

BTW, Jake..thanks for doing your research. It's something that has been on my mind for quite a while....just didn't want to bring it up for fear of getting bashed.

Neato. And when someone bashes me, rather than tease or disagree, they go on my "negative-nelly" list. First time, I just ignore what they say. Second time, I ignore them.

Here is a perfect example of a thread that belongs somewhere else:

    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/1359487

The topic is: "Having trouble building massive legs?---My solution"

I'd have to say the real question is: what percentage of those total posts was just Caslon's LOLcatz pictures?

I think this would go a little nicer if we left personalities at the door and NOT point out specific people....

not only have sports and fitness ended at the bottom of favorite topics, but the only topics that get perpetually bumped are "guys above and below " . *amused*

This, I think is the crux of the whole problem... too lazy to look beyond the first category....AND afraid no one will respond if it's not on top!
